If this "failed to impress you" what car dose impress you???

and i don't understand that last part? anal? GTR supportive dealer??? What?

What car impress me? Porsche 911 turbo, (to a certain) Z06. Those cars you can mod and get some awesome # out of it. From what I have read in the GTR, the ECU will reject any mods done to it. As for a supportive dealer, not every Nissan dealer can support or have the equipment to work on a GTR.

MR X, any code can be broken with the right hacker. Don't believe everything you read. The GTR is an astonishing car. That car is impressive and the numbers don't lie. For a $70+k car, it's pretty impressive for what it can do. Just wait till it gets to the USA, I'm sure there are many ecu hackers waiting to get their hands on it. Time will tell.

Re: Nissan GT-R

I don't know why but it doesn't surprise me how incredible this car is. Nissan has been at the top of the tuner car scene for alot of years (previous Skylines, 300z, etc). The only down side....not RWD (no drifting) and not manual. I know it shifts faster then a F1 car, but there is no clutch to beat the ever living $hit outta.

Still one car I would love to own, even for 10 hrs...trying to duck the repo man...lol.

Oh I bet there will be something available, but hopefully will not be like the RX-8 that took them 4 years to do and one more to kind of perfect (still in the works). I'm also against the mark up. That is one of the reason what killed the Japanese sports car era in the 90s. So till then I will keep my eyes out for a 996 911 TT.

Correct. I asked the dealer yesterday if they were going to be receiving any shipments on the GTR. He promptly told me NO! Reason being the dealerships have to invest in roughly $50,000 to $60,000 in the maintenance department to even service the vehicle (special lift, special tools, qualified individuals to work on the vehicle, etc.) Plus, I believe each dealership is only limited to 2 of them per year.

On the other hand, to say a Porsche 911 Turbo impresses you, that's a given. For a $100k+ car, it should impress. To say the Z06 and the GTR don't impress you, well that's just ridiculous. To pay $70k for a car that can do what cars 3-4 times as much can do is AMAZING!! Granted, I probably never will be able to afford either one of these spectacular vehicles, but to make a statement like that is insane.

don't get me wrong, performance wise the Z06 is a hell of a car. Just don't like the interior. I'm not really looking at it from a performance stand point so when I was referring to 911 it would have to be a used one. No way on hell you can compare a new one with the GTR. I'm just more against the car because the mark. It is a freaking Nissan, not God sent gift to the World. Then Nissan makes it hard for you to mod as you like, you can't even put an intake without the car going nuts. Over all it is a great car, I just wish the hype wasn't so high and the car would get treated like any other performance car.

BTW my local dealer is getting 6 of them. Their allowance vary depending on location and present sale/type customer volume.

Re: Nissan GT-R

^ seen that before cool comparison. I just wish they would have done it from a 911 turbo instead of a GT3.

I wish I had both of those sitting in the driveway next to the Titan! I can't even imagine what insurance would be like, but then again, if I could afford the car, then I could (at least for a short time) afford the insurance.

Re: Nissan GT-R

just read a review where the gtr was tested against a z06 and 911 turbo. It was 5 sec a lap faster. Now thats freakin fast.

you are correct. however, most of the modded Skylines Ive seen use a single fat azz GT42R turbo or the like, making 970hp+

Ive heard the highly sophisticated GPS tracking, build into the car, KNOWS when you are at the track and changes it tune....???? i heard it has all the track maps stored within. anyone know more about this? Sony Playstation's "Gran Turismo4" group helped develop the center console/dash.

true, no turbo swaps, bigger injectors, no aftmkt. boost controllers...

at this moment and for quite some time...the ECU is un-hackable . even the wheels cannot be changed. tires are nitrogen filled, so no changes to the air pressure at the local gas station.
btw, i'm familar with the 'old skool' 4G63 motor (currently run DSMLINK in my evo3 '99 turbo eclipse) and know about AEM EMS. I am sooooo used to being able to change my timing or a/f ratio via laptop on command. Nissan wanted to make this car tuner un- friendly! that they did.

fwiw, most dealers are not "GTR certified" meaning they need the correct size lift, trained tech(s), and trained saleman, usually only the GM. here are some photos Ive found showing the wide stance "size" of the GTR...
