J/K. I think your relatives were looking after the dogs and that's why the court said they were theirs.

How are they going to get rid of the dogs??? Hope you can find them a home, sorry about the $500. Must be covering "damages." Is it going to be tough sledding between neighbors now? If it is that's a shame too.
let me clairify. court says since dogs have been here over a year they are ours. father-in-law will file an appeal. dogs are at the city pound right now. and we have to drive by the neighbors every day to take kids to school. since this has happened i've been waving to them every chance i get today he would not look at me. either embarressed or scared of the titan you pick. on the way home from pound i purchased a case of budlight in rememberence of the said dogs. resturant idea was very good but a little after the fact.

Thumbs down I'd sue too

If you keep feeding them, and they're hanging out at your house, they're not strays. They're yours.
If you don't want to be responsible for something or someone don't let them on your property.
In this case take the dogs to the pound or keep them in the house where they should be. One or the other.

Re: inlaws being sued because dog urinated on tires

Bottom line is keep your animals off of other people's property....

It's great if you want to have pets it doesn't mean everyone else wants them too. I don't know your inlaws so I'm not really directing this at them but A LOT of pet owners are totally over the top and just let their animals do whatever they want.

The whole idea of talking to the people with the pets is a total joke. I've confronted several neighbors over the years about their animals barking and crapping in my yard.... Any guesses on how is goes? It's the best way to make sure your neighbor never waves at you again.... and more likely they'll scoul when they see you.

I don't know when as a society we decided it's okay to drag an animal around by its neck, lock it up in a cage 23 hours a day and let it crap and howl whenever and wherever it wants. The vast majority of pet owners are so selfish that they put the animal through total hell for the 2 hours a week they actually want to play with it.

I'm mostly ranting about the city.... I know things are different in the country, which is where animals belong.

Re: inlaws being sued because dog urinated on tires

On one hand I think suing over dogs peeing on something you leave outside every night sounds stupid. The neighbors could have just put a tarp over it if they felt it was hurting the wheels and tires.

On the other hand, it's very annoying to have someone elses dogs running around your yard using it as a bathroom. You'd like to think people keep their dogs on their own property, and pay attention to where the animals go.

In the end, I think it was a sucky verdict, but the positive I can see in this is that your neighbors bothered to go about this the "legal" way, instead of just being A-holes and poisoning your dogs. That's not such an uncommon way of dealing with unwanted dogs out in the country, and it would have been way more cruel. So, I'm at least glad it didn't come to that.

Re: inlaws being sued because dog urinated on tires

You should keep pissing on their tires now that the dogs are gone and then appeal saying that it wasn't your dogs.

If I were your in-laws I would go piss on their wheels to make sure they got their moneys worth. Some people have nothing better to do.

Sounds to me like you should have trained the dogs to piss on the neighbors and skip the tires all together.
