Driving from Boston to Philly, best route?

So as a UConn alum I've decided to drive with the girlfriend from Boston to Philly to see the UConn-Nova (her alma mater) game this weekend. I dont mind the drive and hate the hassle of air travel so the 6+ hours isn't a big deal, but I would like to know the best route to get there, specifically once into New York.

I took the day off and I'm leaving in the moning on Friday in hopes of avoiding traffic, any suggestions from folks who have taken this route? Any good places to stop for grub?

Thanks for the help!

Re: Driving from Boston to Philly, best route?

I came up with 90west to 84 west to 91 south then follow 15 south all the way to the GW Bridge. I didn't get caught up in really any traffic except going over the GW which is a given anyways. And after that 95 south to Philly (parkway... nice ride took 91s to 15s to 95s from Springfield area to Turnersville Nj outside of Philly)

As for places to eat I am sure there are some here that can help with that, I just cruised straight thru so I have no clue.

Depending on the time of day, you may want to avoid going into NYC.

I have taken, I90W to I84 to I91 to I95 to 287 to 202/206 to 95 and followed signs to Philly. It takes about 20 min. longer than the GW (assuming absolutely no traffic in NYC - yeah right). In the end, you probably break even as far as time goes. Check google maps - you can pull the route over to avoid certain areas and it will reroute you.
