If Bush resigned today, this is what his speech would be.....
Normally, I start these things out by saying "My Fellow Americans." Not doing it this time. If the polls are any indication, I don't know who more than half of you are anymore. I do know something terrible has happened, and that you're really not fellow Americans any longer.
I'll cut right to the chase here: I quit. Now before anyone gets all in a lather about me quitting to avoid impeachment, or to avoid prosecution or something, let me assure you: There's been no breaking of laws or impeachable offenses in this office.
The reason I'm quitting is simple. I'm fed up with you people. I'm fed up because you have no understanding of what's really going on in the world. Or of what's going on in this once-great nation of ours. And the majority of you are too damned lazy to do your homework and figure it out.
Let's start local. You've been sold a bill of goods by politicians and the news media. Polls show that the majority of you think the economy is in the tank. And that's despite record numbers of homeowners, including record numbers of MINORITY homeowners. And while we're mentioning minorities, I'll point out that minority business ownership is at an all-time high. Our unemployment rate is as low as it ever was during the Clinton administration. I've mentioned all those things before, but it doesn't seem to have sunk in.
Despite the shock to our economy of 9/11, the stock market has rebounded to record levels and more Americans than ever are participating in these markets. Meanwhile, all you can do is whine about gas prices, and most of you are too damn stupid to realize that gas prices are high because there's increased demand in other parts of the world, and because a small handful of noisy idiots are more worried about polar bears and beachfront property than your economic security.
We face real threats in the world. Don't give me this "blood for oil" thing. If I were trading blood for oil I would've already seized Iraq's oil fields and let the rest of the country go to hell. And don't give me this 'Bush Lied; People Died' crap either. If I were the liar you morons take me for, I could've easily had chemical weapons planted in Iraq so they could be 'discovered.' Instead, I owned up to the fact that the intelligence was faulty.
Let me remind you that the rest of the world thought Saddam had the goods, same as me. Let me also remind you that regime change in Iraq was official US policy before I came into office. Some guy named 'Clinton' established that policy. Bet you didn't know that, did you?
You idiots need to understand that we face a unique enemy. Back during the cold war, there were two major competing political and economic models squaring off. We won that war, but we did so because fundamentally, the Communists wanted to survive, just as we do. We were simply able to out spend and out-tech them.
That's not the case this time. The soldiers of our new enemy don't care if they survive. In fact, they want to die. That'd be fine, as long as they weren't also committed to taking as many of you with them as they can. But they are. They want to kill you, and the bastards are all over the globe.
You should be grateful that they haven't gotten any more of us here in the United States since September 11. But you're not. That's because you've got no idea how hard a small number of intelligence, military, law enforcement, and homeland security people have worked to make sure of that. When this whole mess started, I warned you that this would be a long and difficult fight. I'm disappointed how many of you people think a long and difficult fight amounts to a single season of 'Survivor.'
Instead, you've grown impatient. You're incapable of seeing things through the long lens of history, the way our enemies do. You think that wars should last a few months, a few years, tops. Making matters worse, you actively support those who help the enemy. Every time you buy the New York Times, every time you send a donation to a cut-and-run Democrat's political campaign, well, dang it, you might just as well FedEx a grenade launcher to a Jihadist. It amounts to the same thing.
In this day and age, it's easy enough to find the truth. It's all over the Internet. It just isn't on the pages of the New York Times or on NBC News. But even if it were, I doubt you'd be any smarter. Most of you would rather watch American Idol. I could say more about your expectations that the government will always be there to bail you out, even if you're too stupid to leave a city that's below sea level and has a hurricane approaching.
I could say more about your insane belief that government, not your own wallet, is where the money comes from. But I've come to the conclusion that were I to do so, it would sail right over your heads.
So I quit. I'm going back to Crawford. I've got an energy-efficient house down there (Al Gore could only dream) and the capability to be fully self-sufficient. No one ever heard of Crawford before I got elected, and as soon as I'm done here pretty much no one will ever hear of it again. Maybe I'll be lucky enough to die of old age before the last pillars of America fall.
Oh, and by the way, Cheney's quitting too. That means Pelosi is your new President. You asked for it. Watch what she does carefully, because I still have a glimmer of hope that there are just enough of you remaining who are smart enough to turn this thing around in 2008.
So that's it. God bless what's left of America. Some of you know what I mean. The rest of you, kiss off.
Oh wait you were serious....

I like Ron Paul, I knew he didnt have a chance, he is just too radical for most people. The main thing that I liked was his fair tax. It would just do away with so much excess, I really wanted it in there. I also liked his stance on states rights more so than federal rights. I didnt necessarly agree with his thoughts on reducing the military and pulling out of everywhere. He just seemed like the best canidate compared to all the others imho.
I dont think that Bush killed this country like the liberals would try to get you to believe, but to believe so blindly that he did a good job like it said in that article is just funny to me. I think that people that believe in that fiction have to be a little more open minded and not watch so much fox news.....

Man this upsets me a bit i cant lie. Sounds like you didnt really WANT to be in the military? Sounds like it didnt mean that much to you to defend what you call home? But to each their own. It just appears that you were merely "doing your job" from your post.
A president of The United States should at the bare minimum recognize the flag and it's ceremonial events associated.
I'm sorry if I upset you. But when I see how crazy people get over a piece of cloth it just makes me LOL. I wanted to be in the armed forces and I was blessed to do my time and learn some things. But when I see the BS that goes along with it's sick and thats why I have the opinion that I do. Like I said I wasn't trying to upset anybody but when I read how people get bend out of shape when a person be it the president or your neighbor doesn't put their hands over their heart or show respect for a cloth is crazy to me.

How sad is it that to see this country going to hell when people think that the flag is now just a "piece of cloth."
I will always take off my hat, put my hand over my heart and shed a tear for those who died for that "piece of cloth." I guess I just live in a different world.

yeah he had a few good ideas.....but he was just too far off from anything the government has worked to achieve. It would have been like them just starting over, and i dont think anyone could pull that off.
honestly why would a man running for presidency destroy his own campaign?
has he done this on multiple occasions? or just this one time
He also didn't wear the American Flag pin that was given to him to wear in one of the first debates, and when asked about it, he just skirted around and never answered.
.... doesn't put their hands over their heart or show respect for a cloth is crazy to me.
flag = piece of cloth? are you serious?
it's one thing to have your opinion about the Obama photo, another to refer to the flag as a piece of cloth.

Now your statement is what's crazy!!!!!
I hope you are not an American because no Freedom loving American would make a statement like you just did in reference to our flag. And IF you are, you do not deserve to be treated as one and your citizenship should be taken away from you in the blink of an eye!!! This "cloth" that you disrespectfully referred to that has 50 stars and 13 stripes is called the "Flag of the United States of America". Just in case you do not know, it is representative of this great country.
It insults me to no end when people like you that enjoy the fringe benefits of living in this country much less the protection of this country, have the audacity to disrespect the main symbol of the very freedom you people now enjoy.
it's one thing to have your opinion about the Obama photo, another to refer to the flag as a piece of cloth.
And hi to you too....LOL....So can you please tell me what the flag is made of then? Like I said I'm not trying to upset anybody. And if I did I'm sorry.

SHAME ON YOU!!!!!
LOL......The response I am getting here is really funny.

Maybe I can help you here.
1. Freedom (goes without saying as you are still around to spout crap)
2. Blood (from the solders that fought for you and I so that you could say any damed thing that you want even about the flag)
3. Tears (from the mothers and fathers that lost their sons in battle to protect your and my freedom)
4.Sweat (from the fire fighters and officers that pulled people out of destroyed buildings on 9/11)
5. God (what ever God you worship including yourself)
6. Fear (so that your freedom could be protected)
7. Love
8. Honor
Feel free to add to this list as I don not have time to list all the ingredients of the American flag that you dishonor with your crud statements of cloth.

A flag is a symbol of a nation... it represents our country... I can't believe people say stuff like this... You really see the flag as just a piece of cloth. Sorta like the constitution is just a piece of paper? I mean it is your right not to care. But, I think you could see why wouldn't want a president who thinks the flag is just a cloth, or the constitution just a piece of paper.
Having said that, this Obama thing is taken out of context. Who the hell holds their hand to heart for the national anthem? I don't... I just take my hat off, stand up, and take my hands out of my pockets as a sign of respect....I think that's norm isn't it?

Dude its a piece of cloth that represents Freedom and Justice for all. It represents all the blood that was shed by thousands of men and women through the years. People have paid a high price for that "piece of cloth".
That statement is very ignorant from someone who was born here and partakes of all of the fringe benefits that "piece of cloth" represents.

I consider myself somewhat of a rebel. A true patriot, if you will. I only say about 94 percent of the current Pledge of Allegiance (I prefer the pre-1954 version).
But I'm not running for president! That there is just offensive. I mean I could give a rat sas what people do at ballgames and such, but this dude wants to lead the free world! What the heck is he thinking? And how come nobody calls him on it?
...just checked out the Snopes link. Now! I would give the guy the benefit of the doubt. I would encourage you to watch the video on that site. Turn the audio up. I think it may not have been clear what was being sung. You can hear some of the notes of the national anthem, but the chic singing is is absolutely butchering it - completely unrecognizable yodeling. Brock M'bama probably didn't realize it was the anthem. Easy mistake.
