The wife and I looked at a 300k+ house on Monday. Beautiful house less than one year old, 2900sq feet on 10 acres. When we went through the house with the agent I knew right away that she was an IDIOT. After three follow up calls from her today I finally told her in the nicest way possible that I do not like high-pressure sales people and that just because I'm younger doesn't mean I'm new to this planet.
So after the conversation today I received this email from her. Tell me - would ANYONE in their right mind consider purchasing a house from this lady?!! I almost feel like forwarding this to First Weber to show them the quality of their agents...
(Btw - this is a direct c&p from gmail)

Hello anmut and xxxx,,
Thank you for realizing that I was just passing on the information from the Bently Rd Agent. She has been after me to get a definite response from you. Even after I had explained that you don't even have your home on the market yet. I to, do not like to be pressured. Since I started Real Estate in 1991. I've determined not to ever pressure anyone. It's a major decision to sell or buy a home. And I want all my people to always take all the time they need to make a decision.
I do have a feeling that the offer that is on the table, must not be very good, or she wouldn't be so determined to here from me.. So I did say, on your behalf, that if her first offer fell through. Then she could let me know that. At that point I will let you know that the property is still available.
It was nice to meet both of you. Take care, and if there is anything else that you would like to see, just call my cell. And again, please know that you can take all the time you need to look.
Sincerely, Lois
Maybe it's just me - but in business I put a lot of weight on written communication.

I go by very few rules. One of them is: If you can not communicate correctly in the age of programs with spellcheck/grammercheck then you will never have any of my business.

We have decided to sit on the house for a while. It has been on the market for almost a year now. Around here you can build a custom designed house for that much including the land.
Originally it was for "Sale By Owner" so I may try to contact them directly and see if they want to bypass the stealators altogether.
Anyone have any experience buying/selling without one of these morons sucking the life blood out of you?

If they have it listed with a realtor I think that it may be illegal for them to sell it on their own. Not to sure about that, but I remember when we sold our house in Arkansas it said something about it in the contract. Rules may be different in your state.

You would be correct, they would still have to pay her.
They can fire her, but would have to wait atleast 2 months(sometimes longer) to sell without issues.

Seriously, a family friend of my in-laws was our real estate agent. He's a crazy old coot but he knows his stuff and he only looked out for our best interest. He went to bat for us on several issues with our home and was very aware of what he could and couldn't get away with and how far to push. On the flip side, he's quite capable of sending an email just like that...even with his masters from USC. Not everyone who's incapable of writing a grammatically perfect email is incapable in everything they do.

Or you can contact the owner and find out when the contract with the realtor expires, typically 6 months at a time with realtors. Usually if you fire them for anything other than a violation of the contract they have with you, then you have to reimburse them for their expenses for the time period, advertising, documents and such. If the contract expires with the realtor, you can sell it the day after unless there is something in the contract with the realtor you didn't pay attention to.

Yeah but that's not very nice. I'm pretty sure she means well. Just maybe not a people-person.
Good luck anmut with your new future home. MAN what I could do with 10 acres!

I would just submit the biggest (within reason) low-ball offer concievable and see what happens (usually a counter-offer) but who knows how desperate the seller is with all the IO and ARM's people took out!?! Todays housing market is ****zu. Just watch CNN for an hour and the topic is sure to pop up! Good luck with the home hunting anyways!
The Realtor is obviously not an English teacher, but that level of communication with a potential customer looks very unfavorable upon that woman as a professional. She was not writing to her friend, Anmut's money pays her commission, she could at least try to write to an acceptable level.
I think the information being communicated was easily understood. This fulfills the purpose of the email. Do you agree with the message? Is proper grammar more important than the message? Everyone assigns a certain degree of importance to writing skills.
You suggest a desire to get this person into trouble by airing your feelings to the real estate company. I think that your want to exact some sort of revenge on this person for not meeting your standards requires some soul searching.
