New Altima's heater smells wierd

I picked up a new 2.5s Altima last weekend and there's a wierd smell coming out of the vents when I have the heater on. The best description I can come up with is "honey baked ham smell". I remember smelling the same thing in a friends car in high school. I'm thinking it has something to do with anti freeze. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

try replacing the cabin filter (if it has one)....that's where i'd start.

also, check the passenger floor board....if it's damp, you've got a heater core leak (could also contribute to the smell)

The car is brand new (2008). It had 3 miles on it before I test drove it. It has a cabin filter, I'll check just in case. No dampness on the passesnger floor.

Maybe they didn't tighten a hose clamp at the factory. Ive got a 08 altima and they only thing i smell is leather. O well thats what the warranty is for.

Re: New Altima's heater smells wierd

More than likely it is a hose that was improperly attached or clamped, and the smell was not caught in testing. So was it made in Canton or Smyrna?

I'll check my window sticker when I get home but I believe it was made in Canton. It's not a bad smell, kind of a sweet smell. I guess I could look at it like free air freshner . Thanks for the reply.
