Well it looks like these are going to be the nominees so I figured I'd start a thread for the upcoming elections.
I read something today, that, I really hope is true. It might just be enough to make me vote for McCain regardless of all other issues.
Quote:
As a lawyer might say (OK, I am one), I have no personal; knowledge of whether John or Cindy McCain voted for George W. Bush in the 2000 election. However, now that that has been called into question by Arianna Huffington (who says no) and Huffington's truthfulness has in turn been questioned by the McCain campaign (although not yet by the McCains), I can offer the following anecdote as admissible hearsay shedding a little light on the subject:
Over the Fourth of July weekend of 1999, I had the good fortune to accompany my then fiancée (and now happily my wife) to the McCain vacation home in Sedona where she was interviewing them for a Home and Garden Television show. The interview itself was entirely apolitical, focusing on fabrics and furnishing in their lovely Oak Creek abode, topics about which I do recall the senator was less than comfortable discussing.
Always the goods hosts, the McCain's also invited us to spend the day with them, including for barbeque, a favorite of John's. And as McCain flipped burgers, I could not help but ask his views about then candidate George W. Bush.
"He's as dumb as a stump" McCain offered. We then went on to discuss other matters (including Vietnam) but that quote remains seared in my memory.
So how the McCain's actually voted that November is between them and their voting booth. But if John McCain did end up voting for Bush, then by his own admission he voted for a stump.

Every election year, the liberal elitist make the charge that the Republican candidate is dumb, and then they turn around and have a candidate that is considerably worst
Al Meyerhoff is a left liberal activist environmentalist lawyer. Unless he has a recording, this is about the same as CBS's forged documents. Enough said.

After graduating from Cornell Law School in 1972, he joined California Rural Legal Assistance representing farm workers and the rural poor. I'll interject one thought and leave it alone after that. This country is not ready for a woman to be president or a black person to be. Nothing sexist or racist about it. I firmly believe we will eventually have a black and/or female president in our life times, but not this go 'round. Furthermore, it really doesn't matter who you vote for, you are getting a democrat and liberal anyways.
That's it, not getting any more involved than this.

The best chance the right has to get a candidate elected is to have a left leaning righty. There's A LOT of people upset about the Bush administration and I don't think there's anyway another hard line right guy like bush would have a prayer.
So, pick your poison.... I'm starting to think I'd vote for Homer Simpson if he could get the price of gas back down. That's got to be a huge issue this election season.

Tell me just how can the President change the price of fuel?
How in the world did we ever get to having the candidates that we have for the last few elections? I haven't been voting all that long due to age, but it seems as if the few elections that I could vote I had to pick the one for my party, not because I thought that person was good, but rather than the opposite party's candidate wasn't any better. Instead of elections being exciting, lately I've been getting more depressed during election time. This sucks!

It would be nice to pick a candidate based upon issues but now the race for the Presidency also includes those complex issues that are orchestrated by interest groups and no one person in the Presidency can manage.
I live McCain's strategy on egressing out of Iraq but would rather support Obama or Clinton on environmental issues...
