Sky-high oil prices touch off riots in Cairo over a basic food item: bread — FOX News' Steve Harrigan reports on Egypt's bread crisis, and OPEC's blind eye.
That dern GW, look what he has caused now.

That's the problem, "We", don't do anything, but complain about what someone else is not doing.

Re: Classic George W

It is because of people like this thinking things like this and posting threads like this that George W gets voted a two-term president.

John Kerry, with this very same language alienated a very winnable moderate majority (including myself). I don't ever say that W is a great president, only that he was the better of the two choices.

Perhaps one day we can stop blaming GeeDub for all of America's problems and start looking at what we can do to fix them.

I know. I remember when I graduated highschool, if you were bored on a weekend night, you just piled your buddies in the car and ....drove around. You didn't even have to have a destination. You could drive to the next town out of boredom, and just cruise. Gas wasn't really an issue.

Nowadays, if you told the boys, "hey, let's pile in my truck with a big V8 engine and just cruise around all night" they'd look at you like you were retarded. 'Burn a tank of gas for no good reason? That's insane'.

Re: Classic George W

When Nixon was President, gas was 30 cents a gallon (not self-serve). I could fill up with a $5 dollar bill and get a free glass just for coming in.

And I'm sure he had a lot to do with that.

Maybe renewable energy doesn't have enough lobbyists? Not many people think its important...and if they do they don't agree on what we do. Is the solution a fundamental change in our energy infrastructure or is it to drill and refine more oil...

This is one of those issues that a forward thinking president will need to take on, and light a fire under congress' arse. If we wait for the masses to realize what a problem our foreign oil dependency is, it will be too late.

I mean the last half dozen wars and billions of dollars spent fighting arabs haven't woken people up...so what will?

I'm using all the oil I can so hopefully it runs out faster and we get out of the middle east. I mean, I guess I could drive a hummer instead...

What more do you want from me?

My nuclear physics skills just aren't what they used to be, or I'd have already fixed this myself.

Well, the polar bears are endangered now, so until they get their numbers up, they're going to be floating on a rapidly appreciating piece of real estate. At least we'll have something to look forward to in 2030 or so.

Re: Classic George W

Earlier, the Senate rejected, 56-42, a broader Republican energy plan that called for opening the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in Alaska and some offshore waters that are now off limits to oil development.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...051300235.html

Still, the votes were symbolic of lawmakers' frustrations at not being able to agree on anything more substantive in response to public anger over near $4-a-gallon gasoline and oil prices in the $125-a-barrel range.

Unless you have a solution, you just have to pay the price until you can't pay it anymore, then move within 1/5 mile from your work and walk, or ride public transportation, thats what they do in most countries.

Re: Classic George W

These arses did agree to stick ethanol up our tanks. Takes more energy to make a gallon of ethanol than that gallon makes. To make things worse, all our food made from corn is doubling in price. GW did not do that. Thank old Teddy , Nancy and harry. Sounds like a porn flick.

George Bush said in one of his State of The Union speeches that E85 should get government investment. He is one of E85's strongest proponents.
