My new toy...

Well, I've always wanted a Jeep since I could remember so I finally broke down and bought one. It's a 1974 CJ5 with the AMC 304 V8. Lifted by Pro Comp 2.5" w/ 32x11.5x15 BFG M/Ts. Dana 30 up front with a Dana 44 in the rear. Unfortunately, both of the diffs are open right now, but in the future they will both be locked. Anyways, I just thought I'd share a few pics with you.

I know there a few Jeep guys on the forums, so you might appreciate these.

Re: My new toy...

Nice little Jeep there......makes me miss my 85 CJ7 with the 350 I had in it.
I have a new Jeep project starting up as soon as I get my daughter a new car I am going to start working on her 98 wrangler. I'm looking forward to that already.

Re: My new toy...

thats way cool! I just inherited my grandfathers 48' Willyz. I've got alot of work ahead of me before its ready for some serious fun. I think I'm going to set it up for the swamps here in Fl. Tall skinny tires, some lift, and a camo paint job. Its only a 4 cylinder but the gears are like 5.:35 (maybe 5:75?) My grandfather has always said top speed is 45mph but its got enough torque to climb a pine tree! lol

Re: My new toy...

Those older CJ's are awesome, and that V8 will be exciting for sure. Locking diffs and some nice Rhino lining on the interior floor (easy hose off), and you'll be all set!

It already has a bedliner all over the inside and that thin strip on the outside.

Re: My new toy...

Nice!!!!!
Brings back some fond memories. I had a CJ 5 also. I think mine was a 76. It had the inline 258 CI engine with a 1 barrell carb. I found a two barrell carb and intake manifold at the junk yard, it came off an AMC Hornet. It ran fine after I installed the "new carb and intake".

I had some serious fun in that old Jeep, it would take me anywhere, I never did get it stuck.

I keep saying that one of these days i'll own another one.

Enjoy your new ride, and keep the shiny side up.

Re: My new toy...

you better hang onto that, the ones with the old v8's are hard to come by in that good of condition.
