Digital SLR Cameras

Does anyone out there use a digital slr camera and if so what kind? What do you like about it and what don't you like about it. Been thinking about getting one just not sure if i want to spend the money for one though.

i have a cannon rebel XT, i love it. Takes a little practice but whats you get the hang of it you will get awesome pictures!

I just got married last month and my photographer was using a cannon and that is what he suggested to me was a cannon rebel xsi. The picures these things take are amazing, just trying to justify the money.

you can get a d70 or even a d40 for cheaper and almost the same features of the d80 but less mp

I have a nikon D300 def a little spendy but worth every penny. But if you are just looking to get in to the digital slr go with a cannon rebel or a nikon D30 or 40

I use a Nikon D40. I think it's pretty much a toss up between Canon and Nikon at that price range. Pick up both of them in the store and see which one fits you better. I picked up the Nikon and was more comfortable with the user interface. That pretty much sold it. I think Amazon is having a deal on Canon packages right now though.

I have a Nikon D70S. What I love it? Because it is a very easy to use, I can use any Nikon lens I want (with the new Nikons you are limited) and since is a large metal camera body, it fits my hand well. I also like it because there are more option with Nikons when it comes to accessories over Canon but this shouldn't make you look the other way when you are thinking about Canons. If it wasn't because I have a large amount of $ invested in my Nikon, I would move to a Canon 40D. If you want to go Nikon I would suggest a D80(IMO best camera Nikon has for the non-pro photographer). You can still use any Nikon lens, it is a 10 mp camera and it has a large metal body for ease of handling. If you have big hands go handle a D40 or XTi and see if you are comfortable with them.

D40 here. Picked it up for $469 at Circuit City. Only had it about a week but I freaking love it thus far. Do it! You won't regret it.

Yes sir, although that one doesnt really do the camera any justice it was on auto mode with the stock lens in that pic. The camera has way more potential.

I have Nikon D40 and love it. It's more or less what some pros would call a entry level DSLR but it does more than most people will ever need. It's only 6.1meg camera but when set correctly I can blow some big pictures with excellent results. It's easy to use with AUTO feature and the settings are easy once you learn all about them. Start out with like a 4gig SD card and you can practice until your hearts content. They can be had from $450 and up. When I bought mine it was package deal and came with second 85-200mm lense, camera bag, cleanings kits and a few other toys for $589, the zoom lense sells for $250 by itself. It was real good buy and that is why I bought it and I have no regrets.

I shoot professionally, I use a Canon 30D, 20D, and 300D. Very durable, excellent quality. I shoot alot of sports, so speed is important....love the Canon's 5fps, and wildlife,landscapes, and artistic/stylistic photos. And they've taken a lot of abuse, hit by hockey players, sticks, football players, volleyball players and balls, soccer players, baseball is the only sport I can't recall being hit or taken down at some point, and taken many a bump chasing wildlife, hanging off of cliffs or in trees, what ever it takes to get the shot. Quality is good enough to have been published in magazines, calenders, numerous newpapers, web sites, etc.

The XSi is a nice camera, I don't like the SD cards though. All of Canon's other DSLRs use indestructable compact flash cards, even dropped one in the ocean and its fine. I was thinking of getting the kids the XSi, but since it uses a different battery and the SD card, I may pick up a XTi for them. I'm anxiously awaiting the release of the 50D, there wasnt enough of a jump to go from the 30D to the 40D for me.

Ive got a Canon 20D that I bought online. It'll do way more than Im capable of but I wanted a camera that I could grow into. It seems that most digital SLRs are pretty close unless you want to jump into a 5D or something like it. You pay a lot of money, you get a lot of camera.
