Save The Pickups! Vote for a politician that is willing to drill for oil NOW... countries are stealing gas rite out from underneath us in the gulf and our politicans are worried about oil rigs being seen offshore!!! ridiculous
note one:you cant see 200 miles off shore
note two: other countries are doing it before us
gas is going to keep soaring if us truck owners dont vote for the rite politician!!!!!!

make the rite choice!

Re: save the pickup!!!

I know your young, but you need to understand that drilling for oil here will not dramatically lower the price of oil. Any oil drilled for here will be sold on the international market just like it is now. The companies that do the selling are going to demand the same kind of prices the Arabs are getting. Even IF the extra oil causes the cost per barrel to drop a bit the oil companies don't give 2 sh*ts about you, me, the US economy or anything else other than their own bank accounts. Exxon Mobile produced yet again record profits for a quarter. They are price gauging and they will continue to do so. If the cost of oil goes down they just make more money.

For the record, Im not against oil being drilled for here, Im just a realist and I know the Republicans aren't doing this to help you and our gas prices, they do it because they are being lobbied to do it by big businesses. Just like the dems are against it because of the hippie lobbyists. Trust me when I say its all about making money, not saving it.

Re: save the pickup!!!

I really don't understand the short-term thinking of some politicians. [SarcasticVoice=ON] Oh, but drilling now won't help the price of oil today! [SarcasticVoice=OFF] That may or may not be true and I'm not here to argue that point. But if we don't start drilling for oil NOW we sure aren't going to have any of it available to us in 5 years. We need to do something now so we aren't in deeper you-know-what later.

I don't see the price of oil coming down. But I sure don't want it going up any further. There are no 100% solutions available from alternative sources. By 100% I mean something that can be used by every vehicle right away. The technology and infrastructure just isn't there. But given the price of oil now there are many alternatives that are economically feasible on a smaller scale. Everything needs to be looked at.

Re: save the pickup!!!

yeah i no but it could have small impact!!!!

better yet vote a politician in office that will take oil by force and we can make our own prices instead of king phad (SP) determining our economy!!!

Re: save the pickup!!!

You can't even see a rig that is 20 miles off shore, unless you are in a tall building using binoculars. I could care less where the oil is sold, but it will put thousands and thousands of Americans to work, and will lower the price of oil.

how?

You think Exxon Mobile will lower the price of gas when they are making billions every quarter off of us? No. The oil we get here won't all stay here. It will be sold on the international market just like the Arab oil. If the people selling can get the same kind of money per barrel that the Arabs are getting, don't you think they are going to get it? Not just get it, demand it.

Again though, I'm not against drilling for oil here, I think its stupid that we don't, because if we had been then the onus would have been on the Arabs to compete with our oil. I just wish people would stop deluding themselves that if we drill for oil here it will lower the price of gas.

First off this is not a short term solution, its an extremely long term fix. Even they voted to allow it tomorrow, it will takes months even years to get the rigs built, manned and drilling. And even after that, we have to have a way to refine it. Our refineries here are already over max capacity. We need to build more refineries. And then get them manned and up and running safely.

All of that costs money. And where does that money come from? You and me standing at the pump filling up our Titans.

Lower prices, hardly.

Re: save the pickup!!!

supply and demand "control the supply and keep the demand high!!!"

if here was abundance of oil it wouldnt be so expensive but the fact is that the natural gases are being used up! and they arent renewable!!!

the only way at this point for americans to drop the price of gas it to not buy it for several days. if the entire country or a majority would actually kinda strike it, then it would drop, mark my words. i have heard it first hand from engineers and company men in the oil field. their bosses and owners have straight out told them aslong as they can price it like this and people buy it they wont drop it.

Re: save the pickup!!!

wow well there is another thread somewhat identical to this one, it would not even take weeks for rigs to be ready to drill nor to get the man power to run them. trust me, i know quite a bit about the land side of oil and gas energy. tmoses your completely wrong about natural gas. yes more is being used today then ever, but not anywhere to the extent that media or politicians make it seem to be. about 30-40% of your energy plants have started adapting natural gas turbines instead of coal cause it is sooo much more cost efficient, cleaner and they can regulate the rate and recycle what they have blow by. the cost of gas would drop if we drilled here cause like i posted in the other thread offshore does not hold that much oil, it is actually alaska. alaska has the worlds largest oil reserve. if the u.s. would drill here save some up then release a mass quantity of oil at once, they could and would control the oil market foreign and domestic, thus driving the price of oil down and bring the cost of gas down. my dad was a valve technician in chemical plants for 17yrs in the entire texas coast line. we will probably never see a new refinery go up in our life time. simply cause of the cost of one and the way politicians work. they will get a permit to build a part of the refinery and the permit runs out before they are done, it takes years to get the permit renewed. it isnt like you building a house and can just get it renewed they go through all kinds of ****! i promise that.

Re: save the pickup!!!

First off, living on the third coast, I may be a little biased about drilling off of Florida, but I'm not convinced it's time to start drilling in anwar or the gulf.

Doesn't it make a whole helluva lot more sense to let every other oil producing country in the world sell their last drop out of the ground? I know $4 a gallon for gas feels high (nevermind our lack of refinery capacity) but is that price really so high that we need to drill out our Plan B?

Let's just put it this way. Who wins? The country that sold oil at 100+ dollars a barrel for a couple of decades, or the country who sat on their gigantic oil reserves for those same decades. Wouldn't the patient country be the last one with diesel, bunker fuel, and jet fuel for their military?
