A president's pension currently is $191,300 per year.
Assuming the next president lives to age 80, Sen McCain would receive ZERO pension, as he would reach 80 at the end of two terms as president. Sen Obama would be retired for 26 years after two terms and would receive $4,973,800 in pension. Therefore it would certainly make economic sense to elect McCain in November.
How's that for non partisan thinking???

I like your math.
But McCain has already COST us millions.
1 plane during training, 1 he was shot down in, & all that were ruined/damaged when he "accidentally" launched a missle while parked on a carrier. Also add in his ties to Bill Keating & his abuse/misuse of our taxes here in Az.
If he'll work for free as community service, I might vote for him.

Read about the Oriskany. You are dead wrong. The cause of the fire was determined to be a magnesium parachute flare that exploded in the forward flare locker of Hanger Bay 1, beneath the carrier's flight deck.
Criticize if you want but make sure you are correct first.

Reason: added the word "flare"

Actually the Ship was the USS Forrestal (CV-59), not the USS Oriskany (CV-34) and it was a Misfired Zuni Rocket.

The camera that recoded it was very clear, even showing him jump from the plane.
I'm not always correct, but this time I've got backup.

I broke my own rule. I criticized when I was not correct. For that I offer my apology. McCain was on the Oriskany during a big fire but the fire and explosion Brundy was referring to was on the Forrestal.
However, that does not mean that he did anything wrong during the fire on the Forrestal. A misfire is not his fault. In fact he was wounded by shrapnel while trying to save another pilot.

One of the things I always did like about McCain was when Clinton was living in Canada and W was getting drunk and high while pretending to serve in the reserves McCain was giving it his all. After the fire on the Forrestal when it was heading back to California he volunteered to go back to Vietnam, it was after that he was shot down. He didn't even have to be there, but as a result he was a POW for years. The man really does qualify for hero status. I just wish he would go back to being himself.
Speaking of Presidents who were shot down, has anyone read the book Flyboys by Flags of our father author James Bradley? It chronicles the life and death of our American Pilots shot down over the island of Chichi Jima (Iwo's next door neighbor) including a young George H.W. Bush. The other two men in his plane were never accounted for. He never knew if they made it out or if they were captured and tortured and murdered by the Japanese like so many other US Servicemen.

Yeah, I know, it's the conspiracy theorist in me. His service record is very honorable, but letting that determine his presidential ability is misguided. He's no Grant, nor Ike, and the world is not same as when JFK used his service record during his campaign.

He voted for the "no kid left behind" that was to evenly distribute monies to schools, then helped the more affluent schools get more than the lesser affluent schools. Which was the problem in the first place.
Az voted down a tax increase to pay for the DBacks stadium. He was part of the group that decided to tax us anyway.
He opposed Bush until he saw his chance for the presidency, then became a "yes" man to get Rep backing.
However, voting for Obama because of his charisma, thinking he can just sit down to talk it out with our enemies, and his other pantywaist views, isn't appealing to me either.
I hate being grown up and worrying about these issues.
