The DNC, and my experience.

Well hello there. As many of you are aware, the Democratic National Convention is taking place in Denver as we speak. I do not think any one else's home has been more dramatically affected by this event then my own. I literally live between the Pepsi Center (which has hosted the first 3 nights of the DNC) and Invesco Field at Mile High (where Obama's speech is tonight). Anywho, my apartment has been on lock down by the Secret Service since last Friday night. We are not able to go in or out without going through 3 police check points. Today, 55,000 people walked from the downtown area to Invesco Field right by my apartment complex. All week has been very hectic and very busy. I was actually a block away, enjoying an ice cream with a girlfriend, from the first police interference with protestors on Monday night, it was very exciting to watch it all unfold. Anyways, even though the convention has been a huge inconvenience (aside from the fact I did not have school all week because our campus was turned into the DNC headquarters) it has been very exciting and a privilege to be in the wonderful city of Denver as it hosts the DNC this year. Here are some pictures that I took last night between my apartment and the campus. Wether you are a republican or democrat, I think we can all appreciate the DNC and the RNC this year and the history that will be made within the couple of months.

From what I hear the cops were kind of bummed that there wasn't more action. The (democrat) Denver government (along with others) made the protest regulations so heavy handed that hardly anyone could really qualify and when they did they were so far away from the Pepsi center that it didn't matter. While I would have liked to see a little more excitement surrounding the convention I do have to give some kudos to Denver for keeping it from blowing up.
