Would go with the ladder.
Also there never truly deleted, if need be, sure yahoo could be subpoenaed for them.
With the account going into lock-down, she had to contact Yahoo to delete & close accounts, so by contacting Yahoo, they could have kept the account closed down and not had to delete. It doesn't look good though when these actions are taken by Politicians.

What on earth does a ladder have to do with emails?

If the account was simply deactivated then yes, the email messages are still there. However, if the account and mailbox were deleted then there is no way to get the messages back. The messages still exist as files on the storage array, but the pointer is gone and there is no quick or reliable way to recover them because of how the back-end is designed and the sheer number of files that would have to be searched. Sucks, but in order to scale there had to be compromises in the design.

Is she engaging in State business allegedly using a private email or is she a private citizen discussing private matters.
I know I know, nothing on the Internet is truly private but what point would be served if in her private emails she said something that contradicts a public position?
She has clearly stated that she may have values in private that she does not champion in public or has public positions that she takes that she does not hold personally.
Her actions should speak louder than her words.
Now if she is engaging in business as a way to avoid public scrutiny AND there is evidence (beyond hacking which I am against), then that could be a problem IMHO.
Any thoughts?

This all has the stink on it of a group that hang out on a website I am familiar with. "The anonymous poster from /b/..."
I don't like hackers, its because of people like them that the internet is not a "safe" place. Viruses, and breaking into email and such. Imagine what they could create in terms of software vs what they could destroy.
