Microsoft is doing a program with it’s livesearch engine to attempt to beat Google as the number one search engine. It won’t happen in my mind, but we can benefit greatly by its attempts. Infact I just googled microsoft cashback when I was told about the program from Scott @ Superchips.
Microsoft is offering 25% off any item (often more) on items that are purchased online using live.com. With a limit up to $2,500 savings per account per year.
I just saved around $150 on a $400 superchip item, thought I would share the savings with you all. Skip to the end if you just want to get to the good part.
Catch # 1 They have partnered with eBay/PayPal as the main source of savings and the results will show as advertisements at the top of live.com after a search.
However, it doesn’t have to be, I just saw 50% off a bedroom suite from Rooms to Go and many other “sponsoring” companies. Amazon being one of my favorites.
Catch #2 It’s cashback and you pay the full price up front minus any discount the site or store is running separate from MS Cashback (you can combine discounts). It could take up to 60 days for your cashback to deposit in your account, but often its instant and it depends on the sponsoring site.
Catch #3 Cashback saved on eBay must be deposited into your PayPal account, otherwise its deposited into your windows live account – not sure what your options are from there as mine was deposited into my PayPal account.
More catches probaly, just read up on it.
The regular savings outside major online stores is around 3% to 5%, which is more like a credit card cashback program.

I clicked on the Ebay link above, but saw no mention of any discount...What am I missing?

Im trying to save you guys some money on all the stuff we end up buying from ebay and other online venders. I've already stated that this works, so I assume you are implying that I am somehow scamming?

This particular one directs you to eBay where you save 25% using PayPal and the buy now feature.
But I'll be paying the full price correct, and then after some time I'll get cashback thru both PayPal and M/soft is that correct?
I have an account linked to PayPal, is this were the PP cashback would be credited to?
Where does the portion from M/Soft go?...Do I have to set-up an account with them linked to say my checking?
Thanks...

#1 You pay full price up front, get cashback later. The cashback you get is from Microsoft only.
#2 If it's purchased on eBay, cashback must go into PayPal account, in fact you cant get cashback from eBay unless you have a PayPal account. In other words Microsoft will put the cashback directly into your PayPal
Note superchips is just one popular item, one that I happened to purchase and eBay is just one online retailer, one that I happen to use a lot and happen to see the most savings and cashback with. For example Autoanything.com searched through live.com offers I think 8% off everything and auto parts warehouse does 10%, not much cashback there, but you can shop and compare and use whatever you are comfortable with.

Been using the cash back thing for a while. It was great when it was 35% off, but 25% is still ok (on ebay that is). Theres a big thread on the deal sites like slickdeals and fatwallet about it.

HVT isn't implying that you are scamming. He's suspicious of something for nothing on the internet. With all of the emails I have received over the years that Bill Gates is giving away money, I can fully understand HVT's caution.

Fair enough, but this isn't spam email and it’s not some random website we happened to read it on. I know several people on and off this forum that have used Microsoft Cashback with success, including myself. So it comes down to each user doing their own research and reading the information I've already made available. To automatically dismiss everything you are suspicious of as a possible scam just isn’t right.
Anyways, according to my PMs at least a few people have benefited. Someone just used it for a Bully Dog programmer on eBay, so you could go that route as well. Like I said before, it can be anything: toys for the kids, underwear for the wife, exhaust for the truck – whatever.
