So I am looking at getting a new gun for CCW but was curious to what you guys have had, or currently have.
I was hopeing for a Sub-compact for size reasons. Also, where do you carry, small of back, ankle, side?
Edit: I know I opened a can o' worms, but I just want some HELPFUL idea's. Thinking .40 but open to the 9mm as well.

xd sub compact. Green on black in a 9. It is a great Carry gun. que the glocks owners in 3...2...1. I would like to shoot a walther PPK, they are very slim and look like a great ccw. My only advice is to come up with a price range and get what fits your hand best.

glock owner checking in.. i just sold my 26 to a friend and bought a 34, way to big to carry though. even the 26 seemed like a pain to conceal on me. ill probably end up getting a small keltec or ruger to carry. i normally carried the 26 in the small of my back or fron waist band
Kimber Ultra Carry II in a nylon pancake holster inside of belt on the hip. I can wear a T-Shirt untucked and it would be very hard to notice.
The kimber is a bit on the pricey side for me, I was hoping for around $800 total. I do wear alot of T-shirts, so I need all the holster help too.

I have held a walther and it was very nice, slim. I also liked the Para LDA but again at $1200 it was a bit pricey.

I have a XD Service (4'' barrel) and I'm actually looking at buying a sub-compact XD (3'' barrel). I swear on this gun with my life. And you can also buy replacement barrels, and exchange them. Like my XD I can go from a .40 to 9mm in a matter of 30 seconds. Great for the shooting range
I mostly carry a Kel Tec P3AT .380. Truly a pocket carry gun with a cheap uncle mike's pocket pal.
I also carry a 9mm Taurus PT111 inside the waistband with a crossbreed holster. Definitely buy a good reinforced gunbelt. Don't rely on a cheap dress belt. Makes all of the difference in the world.
I live in south Texas where it's hot and humid. It sometimes isn't comfortable to wear the IWB holster, so I grab the Kel Tec and go.

BTW good luck finding a gun..every time I go to the store, they are nearly empty! slim pickins for sure. I dunno what it's like up there, but down here, every store told me to come in friday afternoon. Most are sold by saturday afternoon. Times are rough apparently lol
my buddy just bought an XD-m, its a little bit larger(wider) frame then I like. Are the sub-compacts similar design?

Sub compact is like the XD (normal model) and the size.. well looking at the photo, I'd say take an inch off from the tip of the gun and an inch from the grip (shorter handle)..nice thing is the subcompact comes with an extension so one mag will be the short mag, the other mag will be the extened to make it as long as a "service" model.
I got an xdm 40. Not a great concealment gun but it will fit nicely in the waist band.

XD Subcompact .40......amazingly accurate for such a short barrel. You simply can't go wrong with this, in my humble opinion. It's a little on the wide side, but easily concealable for the most part.
I'd actually like to know if anyone's tried any of the available ankle holsters for this. I like the Crossbreed IWB, too.

Go and rent some guns, pick a caliber and a size to start with which should narrow it down a bit and then try them on the range. Pick a quality weapon you have confidence in and can operate in a panic situation without hesitation and fire quickly via point and shoot method with reasonable accuracy at 10 feet, middle man.
I have two Sigs and I can point and shoot them both quickly with ease and accuracy, in short, they were made for my hand, buy one that was made for yours.

Unless I miss my guess, the government will want GPS coordinates of the accident sight, unlike mine that were stolen by the Mexican drug Cartels, lol.
