Test drove Canyon this morning

Hi guys! I test drove a Canyon this morning and was really impressed w/ the truck. The model I drove was the SLE crew cab w/ the vortec 3500 engine. I would like to have a Titan but just can't afford the gas. I saw pics of the 05 Frontier and really liked it but only thing is that the truck won't be out until late Nov./ early Dec. Long time to wait to see the new Frontier.Just like to see what you guys thought of the Canyon. On another note, I've really been enjoying this site and reading the posts and getting tons of info.

I really like the style of the Canyon (the side panels borrowed a lot of styling cues from the current Frontier) and the headlights are cool looking, but although I never owned one, up til now GMC and Chevy haven't made very substantial small trucks, just in my opinion (I know the S-10 sells like hotcakes). Maybe the guys I know that own the current crop of these small trucks were just too rough on them, but theirs are falling apart. I think the current Frontier was very underrated, never considered a serious contender because of inadequate power, but its build quality is very high. I never had a squeak or rattle in my '01 Frontier. It's just as tight as the day I bought it new. If Titan is any indication of the future of all Nissan trucks, the '05 Frontier will be incredible. Had the Titan not appeared I probably would have kept the Frontier until the '05 came out...just my two cents! Best of luck on any choice you make

Chris
Thanks Chris for the info on the Canyon thread. Reading those posts on the truck has changed my mind real quick. Yes, the Canyon looks good and drives pretty well but it just isn't a Nissan. A plastic skid plate? Holy cow!! How cheap are they trying to be build these trucks and then ask for a high price like that. My mind is made up. Sit tight and wait on the new Frontier and keep driving my pathie. She still runs good and maybe not as up-to-date as the newer pathefinders but that's ok. Oh BTW, nice Titan. Just makes me drool...lol.

No problem

You see, normally I wouldn't have posted a thread bashing any specific truck...but that thread came straight out of the Chevy owners portion over there...

Keep in mind, everything on the net is not necessarily fact...But, there was enough there to make me go WWHHOOOOOAAAAAA

Also, in the same Chevy portion they are hitting pretty hard on one of the Chevy Engines with Lemon Laws etc... Its on one that comes in the full-sizers here: http://forums.pickuptruck.com/showfl...b=5&o=&fpart=1

Gotta praise you though for asking around first instead of regretting later...

We drove every single truck in the 1/2 Ton range before making our decision.

Chris

Chris,

Wishful thinking but would be nice if Nissan brought out the Frontier this summer instead of at the end of the year. I try do my homework as much as possible. Just like the Titan, I knew or thought I did I wanted the truck until I saw the posts on here about how some were doing w/ gas mileage. Then the tread started as baby Titan and pics that I believe Jetforeman posted made me go "watch out". Can't wait until the Frontier comes out. :-(

The Canyon is made here in Shreveport, La but I haven't seen a single one on the road yet. GM spent three quarters of a billion dollars to add on their plant here but still no excitement around town. Rumor has it that they will build the H3 here as well as a SUT (Sport Utility Truck).

The cool thing is that we consumers are getting more and more options in Trucks. 2005 will be no exception. The Titan and F150 will probably get minor refinements. New Frontier will be awesome. Ford Superduty's are supposed to be moderately changed. I also heard the Tacoma will be totally redone and possibly the Tundra since the Tundra really only got changed to a crew cab for '04. GM needs to start with a clean slate with their dinosaurs.
