Re: Stockton, CA Meet May 20th

We may want to postpose this. Look at the most recent forcast:

CAZ006-505>514-516>518-182100-
SAN FRANCISCO-
COASTAL NORTH BAY...INCLUDING POINT REYES NATIONAL SEASHORE-
NORTH BAY INTERIOR VALLEYS-NORTH BAY MOUNTAINS-
SAN FRANCISCO BAY SHORELINE-SAN FRANCISCO PENINSULA COAST-
EAST BAY INTERIOR VALLEYS-EAST BAY HILLS AND DIABLO RANGE-
SANTA CRUZ MOUNTAINS-SANTA CLARA VALLEY...INCLUDING SAN JOSE-
MONTEREY BAY...NORTHERN SALINAS VALLEY...HOLLISTER VALLEY...AND
CARMEL VALLEY-
SOUTHERN SALINAS VALLEY...ARROYO SECO...AND LAKE SAN ANTONIO-
SANTA LUCIA MOUNTAINS AND LOS PADRES NATIONAL FOREST-
MOUNTAINS OF SAN BENITO AND INTERIOR MONTEREY COUNTY INCLUDING
PINNACLES NATIONAL MONUMENT-
1155 AM PDT THU MAY 18 2006
...MUCH COOLER AND RAINY WEATHER RETURNING TO THE BAY AREA THIS WEEKEND...
AN UNUSUALLY STRONG SPRING STORM SYSTEM WILL BEGIN TO AFFECT THE
AREA BY LATE FRIDAY...THEN INTENSIFY OVER THE WEEKEND BRINGING
PERIODS OF RAIN AND UNSEASONABLY COOL TEMPERATURES TO NORTHERN AND
CENTRAL CALIFORNIA.
LOOK FOR INCREASING CLOUDS WITH SCATTERED SHOWERS AND PERHAPS A
THUNDERSTORM DURING FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING AS THE FIRST
DISTURBANCE MOVES THROUGH. UNSETTLED CONDITIONS WILL CONTINUE
SATURDAY AS A MILD BUT UNSTABLE AIRMASS PERSISTS. WHILE AN ALL DAY
STEADY RAIN IS NOT EXPECTED SATURDAY...SCATTERED SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS WILL RUMBLE ACROSS THE AREA FROM TIME TO TIME. THOSE
PLANNING OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES FOR FRIDAY AND OR SATURDAY SHOULD
KEEP AN EYE TO THE SKY AND REMEMBER LIGHTNING SAFETY TIPS. RETURN
TO SHELTER IMMEDIATELY IF CAUGHT OUTSIDE IN A THUNDERSTORM AND
AVOID HILLTOPS. NEVER STAND UNDER A TREE DURING A THUNDERSTORM.
BY LATE SATURDAY NIGHT AND SUNDAY...A MORE ROBUST FRONTAL SYSTEM
WILL REACH THE COAST AND BRING A PERIOD OF STEADY RAIN. WHILE
TIMING IS STILL SOMEWHAT UNCERTAIN...IT NOW APPEARS RAIN IS LIKELY
ACROSS THE ENTIRE DISTRICT FOR AT LEAST A PORTION OF
SUNDAY...ALONG WITH BREEZY SOUTH WINDS AND UNSEASONABLY COOL
TEMPERATURES. IN FACT...INLAND VALLEY LOCATIONS USED TO HIGHS
AROUND 80 THIS TIME OF YEAR MAY BE STUCK IN THE CHILLY 50S TO
LOWER 60S RANGE ALL DAY. RAINFALL AMOUNTS BY SUNDAY AFTERNOON
COULD TOTAL UPWARDS OF AN INCH IN THE WETTEST LOCATIONS...EASILY
SHATTERING SOME LOCAL DAILY RAINFALL RECORDS.
THIS STORM SYSTEM WILL ALSO SPREAD PRECIPITATION ACROSS THE GREAT
VALLEY OF CALIFORNIA AS WELL AS THE HIGHER TERRAIN OF THE SIERRA
NEVADA. THEREFORE...THOSE PLANNING OUTDOOR WEEKEND EVENTS
INCLUDING CAMPING AND GENERAL TRAVEL THIS WEEKEND SHOULD PAY
PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE LATEST FORECASTS. SNOW IS EVEN
POSSIBLE OVER THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS OF THE SIERRA BY LATE SUNDAY.

If it rains??

I don't really expect it to rain in Stockton, however, if it does it won't be a big deal. Will mid 70's temperatures really scare you off Lon? I'll bring an extra sweater if that will help, hahaha. I'm still not seeing much action from anyone on the board. Hopefully everyone is still interested and will attend, because if they don't Dawgs will probably pout the whole afternoon, or at least until he's had 3 or 11 beers.

Re: Stockton, CA Meet May 20th

The temp is fine but it would be less fun if it rains. Some of us will have just washed and cleaned up the truck, rain would spoil all that. Why, they might even start to resemble a "work truck". Oh, the humanity!

Suppose we can drink beer and bar-b-que in any weather though.

Cut me some slack

Hey Lon, I even washed my truck, and if I have time today I'll take the tools out of it and clean out the inside. For what? Monday I'll have it full of lumber and cement for fence building. But, to be fair, I'll park my truck off to the side, so you guys won't be embarrased with your "purty" trucks too close to a real working truck. I had a Dodge Ram pickup try to outrun me to merge the other day and my truck smoked her. Ya, it was a female driving, but she was stomping on the gas as hard as any guy could have.

Small gatherings are good too

Ron, JoAnn and I will be there also, and I'll bet money on Lon being there, and Christa will be there, and I'll bet Bill will be there, and I'm sure others will also show up. So, cheer up bucko, your picnic won't be a failure. It just won't be as big as Christas, hahahaha

Re: Stockton, CA Meet May 20th

Well between the brats, linguisa, and hot dogs I don't think we need tooooo many hamburgers...but since it's morning now I'm sure you have already went to the store.

I'm not expecting a big turn out because of the lack of interest in the thread. But it will be fun!

I know Greg F from Manteca wil be there.

I'll be there 10-10:30ish myself.

The hour by hour weather for Stockton looks pretty good today. So we have been spared by the rain gods for today!!

Re: Stockton, CA Meet May 20th

I went and got some anyways. I figured if somebody else brings any I can always take them home. But I got enough for 24, so I think we will be fine. Anybody have squeezable mayo, relish and mustard, or can bring some. I forgot those things. I got ketchup, just forgot to get everything. I can stop on the way down there, RON call me if I should stop.

Re: Stockton, CA Meet May 20th

I'll try to be there by 10:00 just to have a Titan showing for anyone who arrives and is looking for us. Do you have a particular location in mind at the park, or will we just be taking whatever we can find? Give me a call if you want to chat, my cell phone is (209) 815-3804. My truck is already loaded and ready to go, so I'll probably get out of here around 0900.
