Hey Tom. My dad lives in Asheville just a couple miles south of the Biltmore House. I love that area. I'd rather go to the mountains instead of the beach any day.

Me too !!
Flying in the Smokeys is my "quiet time" ....
Occassionally I'll stop into Asheville (which is actually in Arden .. I believe) for a drink and pee break ...
But more often ... I'll stop at little out of the way spots like Spruce Pine ....
Somebody told me the other day that everyoine that lives at Lake Norman now is from up North ... and that everyone that lives in the WNC mountains now is from Florida ... lol
Tom mentioned Mt Mitchell earlier ... for those that don't know ... I believe it is the highert point on the Eastern Seaboard at about 6603' MSL .... right ?

Hi Bill.....a lot of "betweeners" are around...from NY to Fla.......
I haven't flown in a private plane here yet but am dying too....I did a lot of boat deliveries in the islands years back and used to sail and fly in about everything....I love the Mongoose.....sea-planes.....they are my favorite....with the belly that lands in the water. Used to love drinking Kahlua on the rocks flying around the Bahamas. Tried a BD4 a couple of times with a stick...it was a hotrod machine.

That's correct...highest in East US and oldest in the world..on a clear day it is awesome at the top of Mt. Mitchell....if we ever rally there we could camp or get rooms. Summer Spring or Fall woul be best as it is closed in the Winter up there.
I'm hoping to get to fly around here soon..an also hot air balloon ride in the summer.
Mt. Mitchell is 6,684'....the map indicates. My pad is 3,224'.
Dula-titan..look me up when you visit your dad in Asheville some time. Concord is Ne of Charlotte.you are by Bill...about 2.5 hours from BM an A-ville. You are also close to PotHole....I hope we can all meet....would be great fun. Peace-Tom
