I am in need of repairing the rear axle seals. Would it be a good idea to have this mod done when it goes to the shop? Or should I be looking to get a complete new rear-end?

If the dealership puts a new rear end in it will be the new 08+ design and Tru Trac will not work. Dont let them!!!

incorrect ryno... i am an 04 and had my spider gear explode in the rear diff earlier this year. had it replaced with the same spec'd rear end... it was built in 08 but it is NOT an 08+ design. just built in 08 to 04-07 specs...

Wow, you have no idea how happy I am to hear this..
Despite the Cruise Control issue, I'd say the pros far out weigh the cons on this one..
As far as my fenders, this guy here in Santa Fe Springs did them about 3 years ago with his partner for $400..
I see him driving around from time to time in his LT Explorer, but can never seem to get his number again
