San Diego/South Bay, Brake repair shop?

Do any of you San Diego/South Bay bubba's know of a good, honest & reasonable place to have some brake repairs done. It's for my Montero, not the Beast.

However... What needs to be done because brakes are easy mostly... I even have an account setup at Wabco because I work on someone's brakes at least 1-2 time per month.

Maybe I can walk you through the process?

It is a 98 4x4 Montero I had the brakes inspected & was told that I need to Replace the front rotors & pads and resurface/turn the rotors and replace pads on the rear. Pep-boys wanted like $563.00 & sears wanted like $480.00

I am sure that I can help you do all that for less than $100 unless the rotors need replacing and in most cases not.
The going rate is about $400 for all 4 in most shops. Are there drums brakes on the back?

The rear are discs as well. I think the rotors might actually need to be replaced though. Maybe i will hold off and get some pricing on parts and go for it, I might have to take you off on that offer.

Unless the calipers are in bad shape, it should be a fairly easy DIY to replace rotors & pads. I dunno about Montero, but on the Titan, the only complication is that removal of one big bolt is necessary to get the front rotor off and takes a ton of torque, so a good air impact wrench or a big breaker bar or a piece of pipe to extend the ratchet handle would be needed. For DIY, having speed bleeders makes bleeding the brakes easy to do by yourself. www.speedbleeder.com

The other thing you might want to use is CRC Brake Quiet.

Thanks guys, I think it's time to bite the DIY bullet! The days of paying $80-100per hr for crap I can do myself are coming to a screaching halt!

beside I can use the savings for the beast!

... I wont be in SD this weekend but next I will and Ill be working on my Excursion. Brakes being only 1 part

I just got pads for my Expedition and they were much cheeper at Auotzone than the other big 3 in SD. Rotor turing at Pepboys is about $8 each but give them like 2-3 hours to get it done.

Check arround on the price of rotors and !! DON'T buy the cheep made in China ones !! Canadian are ok and some of the Mexico are also OK. Or call me and ill put them on will call for you over at Wabco.

Hey S.D. Titan Freaks...Do you guys want to get togther sometime and sniff each others Titans out like the dogs we are? No, really I think it could be cool for us Titan owners to have a BBQ or something. What do you think?
