Glamis Meet What do you need to bring / buy / think about?

If you havent ever gone here is where you should ask us what you should and shouldnt bring. I will start a quick discussion on some of the things I know you have to bring from AZ and we will go from there :-)

You need to bring a Tent or a Trailer so you can stay in. Ive stayed in the back of a pickup truck before, and I might end up staying in my truck this time which is fine I dont care lol but you need somewhere to sleep for you and whomever you are bringing.

Food / Water / Beverages of Choice. Just as it suggests bring what you want to eat some water and any beverages of choice...Ill be picking up my Miller Lite at the store this weekend hehe. If you dont want to bring a whole lot bring some cash there are places to eat breakfast, lunch, dinner on vender row or other places.

You need to PURCHASE a week long permit (either online or in glamis at multiple locations) or an annual pass. $25.00 for a week and $90.00 for a season. The season is from October to October so if you havent bought one by now I wouldnt go buying it since it gets a bit warm there in the summer. The fine for not having one is pretty steep so just save yourself some pain and agony and just go buy one.

Folding Table / Chairs - Great Idea for congregation of you and your guests. This works well for eating / lounging ect I tend to bring a few just in case others dont have it for the campfire at night.

HELMET - if you are riding a quad or a dirtbike you need a helmet. In a Rail you have to have your seat belt on. Its not like AZ where helmets are optional, they will site you for this so dont test em.
****EDIT**** The other very important thing to bring if riding is a set of Goggles.... helps u see with all the sand if in a caravan out in the dunes....If you are leading you are usually okay :-)

FLAG aka Whip - you must have a flag on your Quad, Bike, or Rail. Mount it however you can Im not certain if the Rails need a specific location or not but ive always seen them on the rear of the vehicle. If you plan on taking your truck out you need to get a FLAG to stick up out of the rear. Im not certain how im going to do this just yet but I think there is a bumper hitch lighted whip you can get (If someone has a link to pricing that would be great).

Firewood - there are "restrictions" on the type of wood AZ peeps can bring in to glamis so I will need someone that knows help out on this. We usually always have a campfire and most of my buds come in from LA with a boatload and I bring it out only when told we need it. We can also purchase some but the price isnt cheap so lets not do that lol. *Edit* info Added - You can pick up a few bundles per person at Walmart and you should be good to go :-)

Night Riding Requirements - YOU MUST HAVE A LIGHT ON YOUR VEHICLE so if its a Mag light strapped to your Dirtbike or Quad if you plan on riding at night you need one.. I wouldnt go romping if I had a mag light but you always got the sand highway. The flag rule still applies here too. I usually roll out to Olds with some friends kick back watch people ride and if its not too congested also partake in the fun :-).

Fireworks - They are ILLEGAL IN CALIFORNIA (And AZ if you get technical)... you do what you want with the statement and come to your own conclusion.

DOUBLE RIDING IS ILLEGAL - on a dirtbike or Quad not specifically designed for two riders.. dont do it not worth the hassle.

Port o Potties / Bathrooms - are available and around the Vendor Row area and the Wash's next to the train tracks.

Lock and Chain type device - If you want to lock up your fuel and quads / bikes this would be a good idea for you. Not absolutely necessary but it makes your stuff less appealing.
Other than that bring good spirits, working bikes / quads / rails and an expectation for a nice relaxing riding weekend!!

Shovel & Tow Strap - Bring a shovel if you intend to drive your truck off the path. And a tow strap too.

Two Way Radio - If you have them it helps finding your groups depending on where you are its also a good idea if you get lost a lot too lol. Take your cell with you if you want because service is out there if you get lost.

Im sure I missed something but at least now people can ask and trust me people if you have a question most likely others have the answer.

Yah even though its technically legal its a pain to clean up and we gotta leave the dunes as clean or cleaner than we see it so its always open.

Now I know im not hitting everything.. anyone else have something to say.. or ask if you havent ever gone? I realize I wrote a lot but thats just me lol.

how does everyone else plan to tie a Whip to their truck? I have an idea but Im curious on other peoples thoughts.

I just open the tailgate, insert the whip at either end of the tailgate, close tailgate, and voila!

So that was sort of my idea too :-)

Ive also seen the bolt on to your hitch type which has a light on it for night time use also... Im just curious if I were to buy one how easy it would be to install in the truck.

I once bolted a whip to bolt hole on my trailer's spare. That way we were transferring the flag from truck to truck. I usually just insert the flag in my rear door threshold and close the door, and in the words of Supermario..voila! I like the tailgate idea better though. Are we going to do a potluck or barbecue?

For Firewood I would suggest heading out to Wal-Mart and picking up wood. They have bundles of 6-8 pieces for $1.96 each. We try and get 1-2 bundles for each person for each night we are there.

Not a bad idea we should plan on bringin some wood each so we can keep a campfire going for a long time :-) Everyone down for this idea?
