Phoenix Area Shops?

The GF and I just moved to the Phoenix area and looking for a great shop to perfrom non-shadetree mechanic needs on the Titan and Frontier, preferably a Nissan specialist. Does anyone use any shops in the Phoenix area that they suggest? Preferably in the northern Phoenix area?

We had a Nissan specialist that we used previously and was a wonderful alternative to the local dealer. Way better personal service at a better price.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: Phoenix Area Shops?

I dont really know any specific Nissan shop. However I have been going to my mechanic for at least 5 years, and he is well known as honest and will tell you what the best option is before you do anything. I just bought my Titan last month and showed him, were doing the 30k mile service at his place instead of the dealer. He lauged when I told him the dealer wanted $530 to do the work.

He previously owned a 04 Titan. It's Sheldons Auto Repair on 12th Ave and Hatcher.

Hope that helps.

Re: Phoenix Area Shops?

i'm familiar with the area jgall is talking about. Although I don't know Sheldons at all. He may do very good work, but I would be a little wary about the security of my vehicle. Meaning, that part of town is crack-ville and if they don't have any way to lock ur truck up behind a fence I wouldn't want to leave it there overnight.

I've lived in Phx for approx 13 years and what I've found to be the best is to look for a place that does specialty work. To me, these one-stop shops aren't nearly as good as places that do 1 or 2 things exclusively.

Examples of places I go to: (all on the same stretch of Cave Creek Rd south of Cactus/Thunderbird)

Elliotts Auto Electric - A/C, all electrical components, starters, alternators
Scardino Automotive (right behind Elliotts) - heavy-line a.k.a. engine rebuilds
Mighty Automotive - brakes, alignment, shocks
Mighty Muffler - exhaust work
Aamco - tranny work
Jiffy Lube - oil change (if I don't do it myself)

good ol sunnyslope....that's funny, seems like all of you live(d) within a couple o miles from my parents house. If you end up going to the dealer, go to midway, ask for jerry cook. he's a good buddy of mine, and he'll hook you up. He also drives a titan, and knows his shi*.

Re: Phoenix Area Shops?

Ya the area sucks. He does have security cameras and locks the vehicles up at night behind a fence with razor wire.

Re: Phoenix Area Shops?

It's a small world! I lived in Sunnyslope @ Casa del Norte townhomes next to the bowling alley. It's an odd place. Multi-million $ homes 2 blocks from multi-family shacks. I miss the access to the mountain preserve.
+1 For Elliott's, Mighty, & Midway. I was an asst. mgr. @ Desert Rat when we moved the store to 19th/Peoria. So you've got that too. I see they opened a store on Bell off Cave Creek in the old Discount Tire.
I don't know if Geesey Bros. Automotive is still in bus. or not, but they were Nissan specialists. They were on the north side of Bell, east of Cave Creek Rd.
