Stillen cover stick out too far?

I read that the Stillen rear cover has a dropped price, but let my ask this...The Stillen cover looks great, but do any of you think there might be a problem when off-roading with the lower portion of the cover sticking out a bit, maybe contact with some rocks?
The factory aluminum cover is flatter less prone to getiing "whacked"...

I know you are probably looking for a response from someone that does not work with Stillen...But I thought I would chime in anyway.

I have the diff. cover on my truck and go offroading, glamis, dumont dunes, some local dirt offroading areas, and I have never damaged the cover at all. Also if you were going to smack the cover on a rock, or some other object, you would be crawling something with a pretty extreme degree of incline or grinding a tree/rock across the front of the differential anyway...Long explanation short, you shouldn't have any problems.

Actually I thank you for speaking up, I like the cover, and the fact that it holds more oil, and now the price is right. I my first thought when I saw one was how much of an issue (if at all) would the extended sump be.
A friend will be running the Baja 500, and the 1000 in november, I'll be one of the primary chase vehicles in my Titan so reliability is paramount!
I haven't run a chase team down there for years and am looking foreward to the adventure.
Since I have a 2wd, I'll be really dogging for any news of a rear LSD/Locker.
I was present at the open house for the Titans, was treated real well...I'll contact Stillen about purchasing the cover.
Thanks

P.S. Sorry this thread got posted in the wrong area...

Re: Stillen cover stick out too far?

kyle@stillen explained that they put that there because they have only tested it on a 4X2 that they have available for fit testing. They have not tested it on a 4X4 so just to be safe they put that there.

My guess is that it will also fit on the 4X4 and will soon hear from Stillen on that.

I am very jealous of you getting to be a chase vehicle for the Baja races. That is something I have always wanted to do, I am going to try and beg my cousin to let me help out with his team this year so hopefully I'll be there too. As far as reliability goes, let me give you my experience from this weekend. I went to Glamis this weekend and put my truck through a torture test. I have a 2005 SE crew cab, supercharged with exhaust and intake. I also have the CST long-travel front suspension with Fox coil-overs and by-passes on it with a long travel deaver pack in the rear with Fox by-passes out back as well. My truck puts down 420 HP to the rear wheels, and you better believe I was using all that (nothing less than insane sand rails could beat me) I have the Stillen diff cover on my truck and I was able to drive there, race around all weekend, and drive home and never had any worries about my differential or anything. I definitely recommend this cover and I would be very surprised if you were able to damage the cover at all (short of reversing into/over something, which would damage even a factory cover)

Re: Stillen cover stick out too far?

Hey Kyle!! I saw you this past weekend at Glamis....and you were flying thru those woops. I was gonna try and keep up with you in my Titan but you were just going too fast.

As for the diff cover, I'm getting one as soon as possible.

I wish you had of flagged me down. I was giving people rides all weekend long, I would have taken you down sand drags or something. I have to admit, I love my truck. With all the power from the supercharger and the suspension from California Super Trucks there was not much that would slow us down. The woops were the best part of the whole weekend, expecially on the way to vendors and olds. We actually have a new Titan brother. One of my friends with an F-150 supercrew went for a ride in my truck and the whole time he kept yellin..."no one can mess with the Titan" it was pretty funny.

Re: Stillen cover stick out too far?

reviving an old thread...

What's the story on the bumper covers? Are they still in production \ going to be offered on current models\colors?

Was the 4x4 issue ever worked out?

Thanks...

Re: Stillen cover stick out too far?

The bumper covers are only available in black, ready to be primed and painted.

The diff covers work on 4X4 and 4X4 applications.
