Some people expressed interest in going to the dragstrip at the 5/22 meet. Rather than post a day that I'm going, I thought I would just throw this out there so that others could pick a day. I recommend Friday nights or Sunday nights. Both are "street" test & tune times. Friday has the 3 amber tree (the lights coming down to start you) and Sunday has an instant green - no warning when it starts. The best thing to do is check out the calendar to make sure no big event is going on (www.houstonraceway.com) and go from there. It is $15 to run all night or $8 to watch. Unless you're running in the 13s, you don't need any safety gear. You must wear long pants if you are racing.
This would be a good opportunity for those of you with cameras to make movies or whatever. I was also going to run in my regular daily driving mode (all the weight) and then do some runs in a track-only setup to see what I'm really gaining.

Damn. That rules me out. I'm running mid 11's and I have no helmet. Oh well. I'll just go and spectate. Head name the evening. I would love to go but I would rather someone else pick the date. I know nothing about this stuff, but I would love to go.

And don't forget you have no long pants or close toed shoes. I think Friday night would be better because I like the full tree idea. Not that it matters if I'm not driving.
As for a date, I don't know what all we have going on in the next few weeks, except for a bunch of stuff here & there and the in-laws and a baby and ??? So if y'all come up with a date, I will try to attend to support my fellow Titans.
For those that have never been to spectate, dont think that this is just some sort of ricer convention reliving the scenes from Fast & the Furious.
although there are some slow celica GT's, neons, etc trying to run with the big dogs, there is lots of big V8 power with engines sticking out of the hoods, front wheels jumping off the ground, and even some chebby trucks with rear ends blowing out.
lots of excitement just watching, and the kids will enjoy it too (i would think).

Great story. But are you going??

Yes they do. If you run over 120mph you need full leathers. If you run 10.99 or quicker you need a tethered kill switch. But bikes only run other bikes on Fridays and Sundays.
