I wonder if the TruTrac's 4 pinion spiders could be pulled out and used for those of us that want to keep our e-lockers?
An expensive way to buy spiders but ...
Negative. The TT uses helical gears that are radically different from anything that would work with the Nissan e-locker.

My spiders blew out on a test drive by the dealer. Lucky for me! The dealer gave me a rental car and replaced my rear end...
Anyways, I installed off-road traction bars to limit the axle wrap. Have not had any problems since then, and I'm at 112K. Traction bars have been on for 90k miles.
If and when my rear end does blow again, a Detroit Truetrac will be installed. e-Locker is a waste of time. I have only used my once when climbing over a few large rocks and my right rear was not touching ground... Didn't really need it, just wanted to try it.
If My spidr gears are jumping when I turn corners, Does anyone think I will also have to replace the rack and pinion?
...Uh....the rack and pinion is your steering up front...

Good point....
I may have lost this weekend of fab time, but without going into the details it was worth it...

I guess I'm somewhat baffled that Nissan didn't change the spider gears themselves. Mine blew apart into many bits and was replaced with an '08 rearend. Now there was some talk a long time ago on the boards with those having the e-lock getting repacements with 4 spider gears instead of the ususal 2. I never opened up my new one to check.
I'm thinking this was in '07?? Anyone remember this? 4 crappy gears has to be better and stronger than 2 crappy gears- right?
I wonder how much it would actually cost to mill the gears rather than use the pressed/scintered (I think that is the right word) gears. Was it really worth the savings compared to the hit in sales and lower durability ratings?

1) aye you waiting for the right yoke by any chance??? I am waiting for it
2) ...I have the tt and the pml diff cover.. y did you go with that diff cover???
Sorry for late response...and the length, sometime I can be long winded.
1) I was trying to work around the the pinion flange (yoke) compatibility issue, 24 spline versus 29 spline and hit a road block. Problem is the 2005 Xtrerra has a 29 spline pinion flange interface, but 2006 and 2007 model years have the 24 spline pinion flange interface. When I discussed this with Superior Axle I understood the 4.56 gear set was 100% compatible with my 2005 Xterra, and I confirmed that in a follow up conversation. However, it turns out Superior made the 4.10 gear sets with 29 spline (compatible w/2005 model year) pinion flange interface, but the 4.56 gear set were made with the 24 spline (2006 / 2007 model years) pinion flange interface. So Superior stepped up and offered to over night a 4.10 ring and pinion with a call tag for the 4.56 set to go back. Or i could buy a 24 spline interface pinion flange. I called many places and discovered part 38210EC015 would be the one for me, cost $70.32, but there are only 3 available in the US and it takes 3 to 5 days to get it here. Meanwhile my rig was broken down taking up space in my installer's shop, and I had too many unanswered compatibility questions...would I need not just the pinion flange but a compatible flange at the DS end...then not sure if that would be compatible with the DS iteself, especially my custom DS...and then there was the 6 bolt versus 4 bolt yokes, etc. So since I don't have resources to experiment and could't get answers from anyone (dealerships, Superior Axle, my installer, the boards) with a comfortable degree of certainty, I went with what I know will work. I need to have a sense of confindence that the parts I buy are going to do exactly what I expect, and I was far from that...felt like I was trying to break new ground and rolling the dice. I sent back the 4.56 R&P and received the 4.10 R&P via overnight delivery. The only comfort I have is it doesn't cost me any extra, and better gas milage. But I would have preferred to have installed the 4.56 gear set.
2) Aluminum finned covers like PML and Mag-Hytec Nissan : Mag-Hytec are excellent quality and work to keep temperatures down which helps to protect the spider gears from failure (if your run synthetic gear oil). The problem with spider gears failing is lack of proper heat treating from Nissan's vendor. Therefore, exposure to extreme temperatures for prolonged period of time cause them to start scaling and when the layers start pealing back the gear lets go. But I don't have the concern of defective spider gears because I replaced the rear differential with the ARB RD-149 air locker. So I just wanted a tough steel cover to protect the differential from impact during rock crawling. The two toughest M226 covers I know of are made by Ballistic Fab (3/8" plate) and Blue Torch Fab (1/4" plate). I decided to purchase the Blue Torch Fab because someone who's opinion I respect (Penski) had both covers installed to test fit and compare, and he reported the Blue Torch Fab cover welds are cleaner and it fits better; see thread m226 offroad diff cover - Second Generation Nissan Xterra Forums (2005+) . I had BTF sand blast it for me to prep the surface, then taped it off, and applied one base coat of Dupli-Color Sandable Primer + two coats Dupli-Color Acylic Enamel semi-gloss black.
