Question Cruise Control Problems

Here's the deal...

I have a 2007 Titan XE with 85000 miles. At times, the cruise control works just fine. Other times, not.

This is what it does when it "acts up" :

Sometimes, the cruise will seem like it just is not going to turn on. Several presses of the on button is required for the dash indicator to light. Other times, it lights up with the first press.

Sometimes, it will work just fine until I have it disengaged (still turned on). Then it will flash the set light. When it does this, it will not set. Sometimes, the flashing starts as soon as I try to turn the cruise on.

It may go days or weeks working like it should, then act up this way all the time.

If I turn the truck off (while driving down the road) and re-start it, this will usually reset it to work, but it will stop working again when I an stopped at a light or otherwise stopped (not all the time - only sometime)

It does throw a Cruise Control error code. However, a mechanic I know said it could be something other than the cc module - then again, it could be the module.

Anyone else have this situation? Any ideas?

Thnx

Didn't mean to stump everyone ...

Still have the problem. One of these days I will figure it out.

Re: Cruise Control Problems

I just dealt with the same situation, took it to the dealership and they replaced the cruise control switch. Works fine now.

Do you mean the switch in the steering wheel?

With 86000+ miles, don't think mine is under waranty anymore. Any idea how much the repair cost?

Re: Cruise Control Problems

Have the same problem with mine. It started out exactly as you described, intermittent and usually could be reset by turning off the ignition switch. Eventually it continued to happen more frequently and then just stopped working altogether.

Re: Cruise Control Problems

Ok, I think I just fixed it. I found a TSB on 2004 Titans that says to adjust the ASCD cancel switch to correct inoperative cruise controls. This is the switch that cancels cruise when you touch the brake pedal. I have a 2006 but I disconnected both switches above the brake pedal and the cruise turned on normally. When I reconnected them it still turned on correctly. The ASCD switch is the one with the brown wiring harness connector. I'll see how long it works now but it looks like there are some up/down adjustments on the switch itself that could be adjusted if needed. I'm not sure how it would be adjusted though because the cruise will turn on when the brake pedal is depressed. I guess if it acts up again I'll play with it.

Re: Cruise Control Problems

I have a 2006 Titan. My cruise control was flashing and not working. I hooked up my Bully Dog and it found and cleared an unknown code. The cruise control is working again. Thanks Bully Dog.

Re: Cruise Control Problems

Happen to me as well ... It was a bad switch replaced under warranty so I do not know the cost.
