I cannot stand my 4x1 any longer. 6" lift 35" tires and with open diff I can do nothing on or off-road. Cannot believe they're still putting these in trucks...its a TRUCK!
I'm trying to decide on what differential I want to put in the rear of my 2009 T. I'm a newb when it comes to gears and axles so bear with me! I think that the TrueTrac sounds best for my use (intermediate off-road, looking for more traction, tired of 1 wheel peel) what do you guys think of the TrueTrac so far? I'm a college student so money's tight. Making sure I get it right before i pull the trigger!
Also, which axle is back there btw?

What year is your truck to begin with? The TrueTrac is only available for 04-07 applications I believe (they went to a larger spline count in the newer models). The differential in the rear is a variant of the Dana 44, but stronger. It's known as the M226.
And yes, TrueTrac would be your best bet. There are only two option right now that I know of; TrueTrac or ARB locker. The ARB runs about $895 + the cost of the compressor, relays and other equipment.

Technically, while in 4wd, it would be 4x2. You'll always have equal power going to one front and one rear tire.
The rear diff is a Nissan M226 (Dana 44 variant), I've heard nothing but good things about the TrueTrac. Totally spaced that you have an '09, though. I believe the only way to get the TrueTrac in there is to swap out the axle shafts for the CC29 version. There is a thread on here somewhere about getting the LSD/locker to work in '08+ Titans.

Are you 2wd or 4wd?
What are you trying to go through that your having issues? Ive had my truck stuck one time and that was because I had it resting on the frame with the stock tires/wheels and stock height. After I lifted it, and threw on the 35's, I cant seem to get it stuck. Most of the time whem Im in the GA clay, Im in 2wd trying to get it stuck. 4wd, I have no issues at all.

well i"m not a 4wd so I have no LSD either, its just an open differential. it doesnt happen often but after a good rain - i'm useless with 1 wheel.
nice looking LWB btw!

None of the Titans come with an LSD. They all have an open rear diff unless you have a "Pro-4x" or an "Offroad Model" those come with a locker.

Re: Tired of my 4x1!!! Which diff should I get????
Anything's better than an open.
So what do you guys think I should do to find better traction? Any other differentials you'd recommend? I don't want a full time locker or anything too radical because the truck is mostly a pavement pounder.
Re: Tired of my 4x1!!! Which diff should I get????
With the M226 you can install the ARB RD-149 locking differential, best make available and it's an on demand system; turns on/off at the flip of a switch.

All Titans have the M226 (D44) rear, the issue is that there are two different M226 models; CC29 and CC33. The CC33 (All '08+ and '04+ with e-locker) has larger axle shafts than the CC29, so it's important to know which axle you have. If you have the CC33 and the ARB (Or Detroit) is not designed for the CC33 shafts then you'll be SOL.
