Under 50k - Need Axle Bearings?

So I'm getting ready to order up my truetrac. I have around 47k on my 2004 XE (2wd).

I'm getting the carrier races and bearings and rear axle seals for sure.

The rear axle bearings aren't cheap though and with only 47k... I'm pretty sure they're fine.

Why are most folks I see posting here suggesting you replace the bearings during a truetrac install? Do you damage them during the installation?

I don't mind spending the money, but don't want to fix something that isn't broken. I'm not doing the install myself, having my long time mechanic do it. He's great and said no problem. He too doesn't seem to think I'll need the bearings, but perhaps there's something y'all know that I don't.

Courtesy Nissan can beat the prices on the bearings vs. what the local dealer wants, so if I need to order them along with the seals I will. Just thought I'd check first.

Thanks for the input!

I have had Hoopers change the gear ratio 2X with the TrueTrac and have had my diff torn down, the axle housing modified and reassembled with nothing replaced but the gear fluid. no leaks , no problems, all is well .

You can't change the axle seals w/o changing the axle bearings.
