fuel mileage redux...

what we gotta start doing when giving fuel mileage is state 2wd or 4wd, KC or CC, tow pak or no, city or highway, covered bed or no, and tire pressure. weight, air drag, driveline drag, gear ratio, and tire pressure are the big variables and we need to gather data with those categories to come up with anything we can depend on.

Question

I just bought a 6000 lb (loaded) travel trailer, I have never owned a truck, and I need reliable information to make a decision about which truck to buy. This is the only site where I have gotten an idea about mileage from the Titan, but only one person has indicated what to expect when you're towing a 6000 lb trailer. I looked at the Titan and liked what I saw, but I'm not sure it can pull the trailer as efficiently as the Dodge Ram diesel. What do you think?

Truckseeker....

I towed a 5800pd boat/trailer down to and back from San Diego twice now...

The first time was 11.2 and the second was 11.9 MPG.

I can tell you the truck pulled it pretty easily at 65-70 the whole way.

I do think however the Diesel will give you better MPG in the long run but if the amount you will be towing the trailer enough to offset the cost of a similar outfitted diesel?

Reason I ask is that now after my truck has thouroughly broken in and have installed a K&N drop in my regular mileage is now 17.5 my last tank and thats with both the Off-Road and Big Tow Pkgs on my 2wd running back and forth to San Diego from 70-85 with the traffic.
