Got mine installed yesterday. King Cab - Big Tow.
For sure, on the Few smooth roads here in NW Louisiana the truck felt much tighter & more responsive.
However
On the normal (ROUGH) roads I felt the ride was quite a bit firmer (rougher).
For the time being I am taking them back off. My 2 bad lumbar discs need all of the help they can get!!

Jet-Tech
Does the Big Tow already have stiffer springs than the non big tow?

Does anyone in SoCal know the part number of the ones bought at Autozone (superior brand?)? I would like to pick some up locally if possible.

Thanks in advance!

So JetTech, guess I need to know where to send the $$$ ... actually, I'll just send you a Visa gift card, swipe it wherever for whatever.

Glad they worked for you Mike, don't worry about the beer money, thanks for the offer though. I do appreciate it..

I've never seen anything in print that would suggest the springs are different, it would take a side by side comparison to really see if they are.

I can't believe your driving a truck if you have a bad back. I would think any truck would ride too rough for someone with bad discs....

I just installed the helper spings and what a difference. I had a very slight clunk when starting from a dead stop, didn't do it all the time but I did notice it. Now it's completely gone. BTW the rear end does seem to feel a little more planted now.
(jetTech)Thanks for heads up. The best part is it was only $19.99. Something so cheap and simple and nissan wont take a look at it?

I saw that you are a moderator on another site. I am starting to check that one out as well...

I have no business in a truck JetTech
BUT
I just can't see myself riding around in a car when there are trucks like the Titan to drive.
Some things are worth the price!!

I finally installed them last night. I didn't have any clunk but just hoped that it will improve loose end. I drove 5 miles to work on city streets and after a few turns, the truck do feel tighter during the turns. Now, it is my imagination or that I hear more road noise coming from the rear. I don't know how things work but I guess it's possible if the rear tires now have more contact to the road. I also noticed during the installation that the bottom leaf on the driver's side is thinner than the one on the other side. What got my attention was the difference in the amount of force I used to tighten the u-bolts on each side. It was dark so I wasn't sure, anyone else noticed this?

Thanks Jet Tech for the mod.

Edit: I also found an interesting web site where they try to improve the ride of trucks and SUVs by keeping the bottom leaf away from its upper leaf and the mod we do here doing the reverse.

jdm,
What weight capacity helpers did you put on?
See where 1000 and 1500-lb capacity available: http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/P...odelId-1476349
If used 1500, wonder if 1000 would make for any noticeable less firm ride and yet still be effective at countering the leaf torque?

If that was the "only" benefit (to reduce axle twist) of installing them it would have been worth many times more than what I paid for them. Give it a try, I think you'll be very pleased....
Hey Jet, great job on this tip!

However I have a question; I don't currently suffer from this driveline clunk and was looking to install these helpers for thier original purpose of increasing load capacity. Now I'm wondering if I install these helpers in thier proper location aft of the axle, will I be putting more stress on the suspension system and increasing the likelyhood of axle wind up? Or if I install them in the manner you recommend would the helpers still be able to provide (at least some) increased load ability?

if installed in front of the axle I have no doubt it will increase load capacity and make the truck handle better. If you install them aft of the axle I really couldn't tell you if it will increase your chances of axle wind up or not. I doubt it will but either way you can't go wrong. Do a little trial and error and see what happens. They are easily removed and installed so why not try it both ways and be sure to let us know which one works better for you.

JetTech, I've been experiencing traction issues and just did your mod. I have to say thanks again for bringing this mod to everyones attention. More stable know with enhanced traction. Best $22 I ever spent on the TiTan. Still want a real LSD though and can't wait until one is available for us...

I want to ask JetTech and others who did the mod. After the mod, the car is much better making turns around the corners, doesn't bounce around going over bumps and definitely provides more rear traction, exactly what I was looking for (I don't have the clunk). However, on straight driving, I feel the drag, like carrying a load in the bed. Today, I test drove with and without the tow mode on, and I couldn't tell the difference, it takes longer for the trans to up shift. Is this possible that this mod makes the car run with tow mode constanly on. Or the reason I felt this way because I don't feel the push from the rear anymore when taking off. Anyone else has the same observation? and what if I loosen the U bolts a little, will it reduce the drag that I am feeling?

Thanks

amati, I can't say as though I've noticed any drag like your talking about and no this mod will not cause the truck to run in tow mode without selecting it. The U-Bolts need to be as tight as you can get them to keep the springs from moving around so please don't loosen them. It may be that your just not used to the ride yet, I can't see how they would cause any drag. Please keep us updated and if anyone has noticed this please chime in too.

There is DEFINITELY drag ... well, as much as about 7 pounds creates

BTW, mine are officially FOR SALE ... well, free to someone in Dallas or willing to come get them. After paying $800 for Deavers, if the clunck ever comes back, Deaver is gonna fix it !!! So far, no wrap with the Deavers !!! (They won't fit on the Deavers anyway)
