... It may be that your just not used to the ride yet, I can't see how they would cause any drag. Please keep us updated and if anyone has noticed this please chime in too.
That's what I've been thinking too. The increase in rear traction and the more settled end must have given me the feeling. If I get much less mpg, I'll post.
I am still amazed how such a simple mod can change (improve) so much. May be you should design your own version and have it patened
Thanks
Update: Just found out there's only 32 psi in each tire. Must be the temp drop. No more drag with 35
The past few weeks I have been hearing this clunk sound as I am stopping and I thought what is that sound"? other day I had the same thing happen again and tonight.
I checked everything in my Storage box (behing the drivers rear wheel) made sure everything was secure, and I noticed the Utilitrack Rail covers had slid back to the tail gate and that what it was.. they get loose and slide back and forth.

Hi Jet Tec........I'm gonna give this a try...you may have seen my post on downshifting and emergency brake problems....downshifting from 3rd to 2nd at 25-20 mph makes a hop//shudder...in 2 wheel or 4 wheel high and low...but at lower speeds in the 4 wheel modes......could this be axle-wind down??????? I will let all know what happens and hope for the solution with the helpers to my downshifting at certain speeds problem/annoyance......In advance Thanks. Tom

Hi Jet Tech,
I installed the helpers today...they definately make the Titan handle better on the curves.....but they did not stop the hop/shudder downshifting from 3rd to 2nd from 25-20 mph....I never had the problem ya'll were having at stop and go conditions..any ideas???????
1. How much clearance did you have between the clamp strap (where the Ubolt ties in to) and the tire. Mine has a clearance of 3/4 Inch, and I am scared that it would rub on the tire?
2. Well I guess that was my only ? =)

After looking at your pic, you may want to slide them back just a little to give more clearance between the front of the helper spring and the front main spring bushing. I had mine slid a little too far forward initially and the front of the helper spring took a little paint off the bushing area. Just a thought.....
If you had the helper springs tightened all the way (fully compressing the leaf springs) the only thing that I can think of that might make any sound is if the ends of the helpers are too far foward, causing them to tap on the stock leaf spring bushing region when you go over bumps, or if for some other reason the end of the helper spring at the weak bracket is for some reason tapping on the OEM leaf springs. Take a look at JetTech's photos in post #31 of this thread to see if this might have been the case, regarding helper spring positioning. There was a post where one guy made a better bracket to replace the weak bracket on the helper springs.
When I first installed my Superior leaf spring helpers, I noticed the front hangar bolts for the helper springs, when tightened, were very close to the truck frame-- in fact I worried that on rough roads the end of the hangar bolt might contact the frame and make a noise. To fix this I went to the parts store and picked up some washers and installed them just behind the head of the hangar bolt to give me more clearance between the end of the bolt and the frame.
If yours was as close as mine to the frame, that might be the problem.

I installed the hangar bolts with the open ends pointing outward from the frame (opposite direction) so there is no problem with rubbing or washers needed.
Took mine off tonight to see if I noticed a difference tomorrow. All went well till I could not remove one nut from one of the U bolts. It was like frozen on there. Used wd-40, no go. Finally just before going to get the dremel, I horsed it enough to snap the bolt just below the nut. Did not hurt the truck at all but the bolt is wasted, snapped in two.
I noticed some rust and corrosion on parts of the set up and that regardless of how many times I kept moving the front end of the drivers side helper backwards to keep it from rubbing on the OEM leaf spring bushing/bolt area towards the front of the truck, it kept creeping forward. I must of loosened, adjusted, and tightened it 3 or 4 times the last 3 months. Oh well. I will drive it awhile and then see if I can get a heavier duty set up.
My favorite solution for this so far are my custom Deavers !!!

Took mine off today........too much titanium in my lower back to handle the firm ride. I'm sure I'll miss the other benefits of this mod, although I never did have the clunk in the first place. If I ever do develop it, I'll re-install them unless nissan has come up with a fix by then. Thanks to JT.....you have a huge brain!

JT,
U 'da man!
I did the helper spring thang with my last tire rotation and I am very pleased.
The truck gets better traction, handles better, and yes the pulsing/jerking cruise control down hill issue has disappered.
AWESOME !
Thanks for making this site so damn good!
