But I am pissed. Nissan should be ashamed. Such an easy fix for an annoying issue which many of us have/had and all Nissan could say is that the clunk is normal. I'm wondering how many other issues we have are just an easy fix away from resolution.

Anyway, another million thanks to JetTech

BTW, I bought the springs at Discount Auto Parts, same make and price as JetTech.
Your very welcome and thanks for the thanks!!! Kind words go a long way in this life....

I think bestachess provided a good answer to the question concerning painting the helpers. I think they look great in silver because they are just barely visible from the side and you have to be looking real hard to see them. I would recommend to try them right out of the box first, then if you want to paint them they are real easy to remove....
Many thanks to JetTech and bestatchess. I will try the helpers as soon as I can get around to working on the project.

Can't thank you enough

JetTech...I cannot thank you enough for this post. This drive train clunk has been driving me nuts since I got my truck and of course the dealer says it is normal and it is because of all the torque..but nonetheless, I hated it. Well, I picked up my $22.88 parts from Advance Auto Parts and just got finished installing them. Every problem is gone!! I love it. And that was just driving around the block a few times. Can't wait to really try them out on my normal route. You were right, it was easy. The first one took a little longer just to get used to wrking under the truck, etc. But the second one took less than 5 minutes. Thanks again!!

your very welcome......There is one more major benefit to this mod but I can't tell everything... I'm waiting for someone to realize it and then post it. I will give you a hint though, it has something to do with the cruise......

Thumbs up

Well I have not noticed any clunk, but for $22, I am going to get the springs too to head off any potential future problems. Thanks JetTech for the info, and especially for the cheap solution.

JetTech...

I've tried to think of all the before & after differences, but there was nothing that came to mind concerning "CRUISE..."

And not that it is related, but I have recently noticed some very respectible gas mileage while "cruising" on the highway (Between 70 & 75 MPH equates to arround 18-20 MPG, 80 MPH = 16 MPG, 85 MPH = 14 MPG, and 65 MPH = 20+ MPG). Just turned 9,000 miles on my KC LE 4x4 w/BT, OR, NAV, and a smile on my face every time I pass someone driving a "HEMI"...

with the cruise set at 70+, going down a hill, my truck used to surge a bit. All is smooth now with the springs installed. With the rear diff moving up and down, corresponding to the throttle setting, it would cause a fair amount of driveshaft whip. This confuses the cruise control module which was constantly trying to make small corrections thus causing the surging feeling while going down hill. COOL HUH??

No Hills in Kansas...

Makes perfect sense to me. However, there are no real hills here in KS, so I never really noticed any problems. But traction on the dirt roads has increased significantly... Instead of locking-up the front brakes and having the anti-skid pulse at even the slightest bit of heavy braking, everything is smooth and very controlled. Even under heavy braking situations. The rear end doesn't fish-tail around and it seems like the braking action is spread out over all 4 wheels (like it should), rather than just the front two. Thanks!

Leaf Spring Helper is the shiznot

Holy Crap JetTech - your post is by far the best value and proformance enhancer of any other mod for the Titan going. Three cheers for you man, next time you are in Houston I will by the pints. This is my first post and I could not help it. The clunk was annoying the **** outta me and your fix is perfect and easy. Sooooo much tighter on the asphalt washboard crap its truly amazing, as well as during the 'going up the parkade ramps, level to level all the while with a slight clunk BS' which is now history. Thanks for the post and now I go lurk again and just read. You da man. I am super happy.

Superior Leaf Spring Helpers, O'Rielly Auto Parts USD $29.99 fkneh!

Is there any possibilty of adverse effects? Espescially when not installing as recommended? Just wondering the risks before I go ahead with this mod!

Many thanks to Jettech

I was wondering when someone was going to ask this question and it's a very good one!!! As I'm sure you've read, those of us who are using these springs are not using them according to their original purpose. We are using them as a low buck traction bar and not as a helper spring to carry higher loads.

The benefits of doing this are many, including better handling and control, but the main purpose was to reduce the amount of axle twist and they do that in a stellar way. If that was the "only" benefit (to reduce axle twist) of installing them it would have been worth many times more than what I paid for them. Give it a try, I think you'll be very pleased....

Jettech Thankyou very much ingenius mod. I just picked up and installed my 22 buck miracle cure last nite and I could tell the difference before I got to the end of my street, as soon as I went over the first speed bump. I never had much of a clunk, but I had been looking for a way to make the truck handle better, and loh and behold....I now have a truck that actually LIKES to go around corners. Appanently bringing the rear end down just little bit and snubbing down the differential was all it needed. Amazzzzzzzzzzzing difference.

Thanks again
