Just installed mine.
Have only taken a short drive through the neighborhood, but I can already feel the difference. The annoying rubbery feeling when coming to a stop and taking off from a stop is gone!
I do have some questions on the install (bear with me, I'm not too hands-on technical):
1. When tightening the u-bolt, parts of the washer broke off. Problem?
2. How far do I tighten the u-bolt anyway? Tighter = stiffer ride?
Also found a new use for my wireless network: taking the laptop outside with JetTech's instructions on screen while I worked on the mod (running off the 12V connection in the bed)
I would probably go to the hardware store and get another lock washer, it really should be used. As far as tightening the U-Bolts, tighten them as much as possible without breaking the bolt........
Oh yeah, and wireless is AWESOME!!! I've been wireless for almost 2 years now and wouldn't have it any other way....My laptop has seen my garage many many times!!
I have never Posted on here before, I installed the helper springs and I absolutly Love them. I noticed 1 more thing that I thought yall might want to know. Before I put the springs on when I turned right sharp and tried to do a donut the right tire would be the only one that would spin but if I turned left I could do a donut on a dime "what gives" I thought to myself. Anyways once I put on Jet's helper springs I can now do donuts in either direction with ease.

OH FORGOT TO TELL YA THE DEVIL MAKES ME DO DONUTS
Yeah, he makes me do all sorts of BAD stuff when no one is looking too. Every had the Titan in a 4 wheel drift on a tar road?? Now that is fun!! What's even more fun is trying to do it with the VDC on, that program will amaze you if you haven't had the chance to put it through its paces yet. It will not defy physics but it will do an amazing job of straightening the truck out. COOL!!
Find a big empty parking lot and see what I mean!!
rvandam,
That is so funny, I did the exact same, took my wireless laptop out and actually go to jettech pictures site to compare the pictures with my installation.
Jet:
Put them on yesterday and here's another benefit: those freeway problems with the Titan rocking and rolling along on the pavement we have here in California is now not a problem anymore. These things stiffened up the rear enough to dampen the bounce created when going over these uneven surfaces at cruising speed.
Well, I gave it a try to eliminate the rockin on the freeway but no luck. Oh well, for $24 is was worth a try...

Well, I'm surprised and disappointed for you that it didn't help at all. Seemed to make a difference to me but I don't drive on the same roads you do, bummer!
Sorry, mtbendo.
I guess you will just have to think of it as "training" for the mountain bike.

Thanks for the nice words Mike. I'm very pleased they have helped so many with this issue of axle wind up. I think the more you drive with them on the more things you'll find that you like about them. Good luck and thanks again...
Nissan says I need new drive shaft propeller bearings. Can't seem to get them after 45 days - so I filed for Lemon Law because of this and about 15 other problems with the truck.
too bad you've had such bad luck with the Titans because they are such an awesome truck. I hope you have better luck in the future with another brand.....

And this is my SECOND Titan!
Not going to get a 3rd.
So tell us the story. 2 Titans with problems, where have you been and what has been happening to you? Did you just find this site today (join date August 22nd)?

This is quite a common complaint with Tacoma extended cabs and double cabs. Does the Titan also have a 2-piece driveshaft? If so, that is likely the root cause. Where the first and second pieces of the driveshaft mate there is binding which is released when stopping. Try stopping with your transmission in neutral -- if it does not exhibit this "clunk" then you are most likely experiencing this driveshaft issue. The solution that we've come up with for the Tacoma is simply to keep it greased up -- unfortuantly this is a temporary solution, as the clunk will return and you must re-grease. No permanent solution has been found, although no long-term issues have arisen, either.

I was reading in my owners manual and it states that you will hear a clunk when the truck is at low speeds and when braking. It says that this is the VDC engaging and disengaging and it is normal. Someone may want to check into this and see if this is the noise you are hearing. The manual even uses the term "clunk".
