A Dana 44 is just fine for the kind of offroadin that normal people would be doin with a $22k-33k new truck. If you gonna be doin some serious froadin in a Titan w/in the first few years, you got plenty of cash to make a Dana 60 or Dana 70 swap.
Right, that's why I said for a 1/2 ton, not a Titan. By serious off roading in a 1/2 ton, I mean a K5 blazer with 37"+ meats and 350+hp tearing through mud pits and up hills and jumps and over logs/small furry woodland creatures, etc. But other than that, yes the Dana 44 is a fine every day, drive down a muddy trail kinda axle.
TitanSurveyor, I apologize for my posts as well. Jumped to conclusions about your truck, thought snowman was back. Good luck with your truck. Just a quick question, have you broken a mirror lately, walked under a ladder? :-)

Not that I know of, guess I just pissed someone off
Just talked to the deralership in NM, parts should be here Wednesday?? We'll see she said they are sending the differential back to Mississippi for the engineers to figure out what happened. I may never know what went wrong

Although I usually think they are a waste, I strongly recommend you get a extended warranty that includes free rentals and roadside assistance. And stay inside during storms. And watch out for black cats.

That's good, I've never been one to have bad luck, but then I look at things better then most. Any day above ground is a good day!

I agree with you, dman. That's a lot of problems to come up with in 2 posts
on this website. If his grandfather died, I'm sorry, but it sounds like
Snowman may be back among us.
I wonder if the moderator(s) can check & compare the IP addresses?

We've already had to apologize to this guy, so look up from that fourth
grade math book and read the whole thread. He seems to have had a run
of very bad luck recently, and the rest of us are suffering from paranoia.
Cabin very quiet. No wonder you didn't hear the diff.
Titan Sur,now that I have a Titan, and have driven some hy miles,I can see how you wouldn't hear the differential racket until you opened the window. It is an extremely quiet truck at 75mph on cruise.I have the cheapest-XE KC-and I expected it to be a bit loud since they usually don't use much sound deadening material on base models.I don't see a heck of a lot of sound absorbing material,so they must have done extensive testing, and modeling to get the best result with the least material. It is quieter than my Pilot is (6000 more expensive) and my Tundra was ($3000 more) despite a much bigger motor. Now,when accelerating, the exhaust rumble is loud, but at a steady 80 mph(2000 rpms) it is very quiet.
I go to Flagstaff ,via Alb.twice a year. You must be having a change in luck to have been able to do those hills with a bad rear end.You must have been on pins and needles the whole time waiting to hear the final %#&*#@^^%,and a sudden loss of speed.
Hope things start looking up.If you don't mind, keep us posted on the rear end autopsy.I'm really curious what Nissan will have to say.Luck,Charlie
Truck had 1400 miles on it when it went down in Flagstaff per TS's post. He's in Temecula, CA which, according to mapquest, is about 500 miles from Flag. meaning he started with 900 miles on the odo. He had about a 6000 lb load per his post. I know the approach into Flag and there's some climbing to do. Trannies of course don't need a break in like engines, but isn't 900 miles on the odo a bit soon to be making such a trip?
Again, sorry to hear of your problems TS, hope Nissan pays for your flight and expenses back to NM.

Wow, you non-analytical types are really insecure. Anytime that I suggest a concrete, definite analytical way of reaching a logical determination, you get upset.

Own up already - you weren't paying attention. The guy had incredible misfortune, and you suggested verification of the alleged liar over a day after that had already been sorted out.
