Angry Titan rearend problem!!!

I was on my way to Albuquerque, Nm to see my grandfather who was in the hospital and later passed away that night. I was towing my trailer close to empty, I maybe had 800 lbs of stuff in it. So it would've been around 6000#. Well just as I get to Flagstaff, AZ. I pull off of the highway to fuel up, and I smell this awful burnt smell. So I take it to the Nissan dealership there. They tell me that the rear differential was BURNT UP, GONE, TOAST! At this point I only have 1400 miles on my truck. They tell they can't get a hold of Nissan for any direction on what to do. They are going to need the truck for a few days!!! Nope. So they call there District Manager (nice guy), who was real affectionate to my situation, and said that if I wanted to they could refill it with new oil and try and make it. Obviously that is what I did, so after 5 hours at this dealership, I was on my way. It's about 340 miles to abq from flag. So I make it to Abq late that night, only to find out that my grandfather passed away just an hour before that. So the next day I take it Nissan which was last wednesday 4/28/04, as of this morning they still do not have a PART NUMBER, not the part. But nothing!!!! What the heck is going on in Canton, Mississippi. So my dad who has a real truck (03 F350 PSD) drove his truck out to NM so I could tow my trailer home to Ca. He had not planned on coming to the service because my parents are divorced. I got back yesterday (5/5). Now I have to fly out there whenever it is done. Right they are saying maybe 2 weeks???
Sorry for being so long winded, but I wanted you guys to get the whole story. Thanks

P.S. I will be buying another truck whenever I get this one back.

P.S.S. This is my second Titan, the first the dealer bought back do to bad wiring and tranny.

Later

Sorry about your Grandfather. My condolences. Also hate to hear about your bad luck with the Titan. Just curious, did they have any idea why the premature failure? any suspected part, maybe diff not full from factory? anything? I think I am going to check the level in mine this weekend.

I smell complete BS. This guy says that the first one was bought back and the only other post he has on this site says that he had a brake booster replaced. So among the 2 titans he has supposedly owned he has had the following problems:

1) bad brake booster
2) bad wiring
3) bad transmission
4) bad rear differential

Sounds like a troll to me!!!

Hopefully not. Wasn't there another guy on this site at one time that said the wiring burned up in his ride but turned out to be false? Is so that is BS.

I agree with you, dman. That's a lot of problems to come up with in 2 posts
on this website. If his grandfather died, I'm sorry, but it sounds like
Snowman may be back among us.

I think if this is false, you should ban them from the site and send their false comments to Nissan. Maybe Nissan's Lawyers would like to take a look if this is untrue.

Not sure if he is a troll or a guy having serious problems but until we find out which, banning him would be counterproductive.

It is possible that he has had a number of issues or maybe he just beats up his trucks after removing all the fluids and expects them to run properly. Either way, the moderators are aware of the posting and will watch for future issues.

well one way to confirm is to call the Flagstaff dealership and see if it is true.

TS,

I see your from Temecula....where did you purchase your truck? Also, is it still in NM or is the truck here?

For all others....Most of you are thinking of 'Snowman' and this is not him.

Uuummm, if I'm not mistaken, the diff is a mechanical unit. First, what is in there that could "burn up" besides bearings?? Second, if it was a bearing problem or other component that was BURNT UP, GONE, TOAST, why was he still able to keep on driving by the dealership throwing some new oil in there??? We should all be able to fix mechanical problems by throwing new fluid in there . . . Seems to me he would have "burnt up" the diff again as soon as he left the dealer lot . . .

Me thinks the only burnt smell he was smelling came from lighting his own flatulence . . .

Gotta be one of those Big 3 trolls . . .

For the record, I did see this post on a fishing website. Of course, this claim was never substantiated by the poster:

Hey did some research on this truck today, before you started throwing stones at the big 3 you should have did a little investigating, it looks like NISSAN with there oh so good track record will be beating Ford to the recall, TITANS and transmission problems something about the tranny stalling the motor!

This also looks funny as nobody anywhere on this board has mentioned this problem and there are a lot of owners on this board. Ya really have to take what people on these boards say with a BIG grain of salt.

Personally, this guy sounds like he if FOS. If his grandfather did died, my condolences. But only two posts with all those supposed problems?

Loud Noise??

Sorry for your loss.Didn't you hear a loud noise?I would have expected a horrendous squealing noise if either the bearings,or the gears were torn up,did you hear anything?I'm surprised you made it to Flagstaff.Maybe the oil level was very low, that could "cook" what was in there and cause the odor.Still it was very lucky to make it 300+ miles.Charlie

I doubt his grandfather died either. A move to evoke sympathy and not question his post.

Sorry, but I ain't buying it.

This has got to be the the most unlucky person in the world. Don't stand next to him!

Not one Titan but two go bye-bye and no one else has posted similar in the 6 months the Titan's been out . . . . .and his grandfather dies??? And this is the first time he posts about his tranny going???

Come on! This is a stinker.

I could be wrong. . . . . . .

Nah!
