Engine Knocking at Idle (TSB NTB04-124)

I am going to take my truck in for TSB NTB04-124..the engine knocking at idle problem.

It comes and goes...not really a nuisance...just want to get it fixed.

Has anyone had this done yet, and if so how long did it take?

Thanks

Matt

Mine also knocks at idle. Do you know what causes it?

Just had the same service done on my SE 4x4 KC done 2 wks ago. Seems better now, but still hearing a very slight tick. Maybe I'm getting senile. Just crank the radio a little higher & the noise disappears like magic. HA.

This noise just started in mine last week (1800 miles). I was wondering if I was hearing things or not. Thanks for the post.

Hey subcpo...was that some ole' school Maiden I read? My 04 Crew SE ticks a little. Just wish I could move the dealership 40 miles closer to my home. That way it wouldn't be a big pain in the tushy having all these problems taken care of!

search for "passenger tick" on the forums and reground the block to chasis, and the ticking goes away

What they are talking about isn't the ground fix. I will be taking mine in for this also. Mine can get pretty loud while idling. It's a very loud ticking noise from the drivers side.

I was able to fix my Knocking sound by running the best premium gas. The sound was my valves ratteling from the bad gas that I was running through it.

Bad gas wont give you a knock at idle...just when the motor is under a load. 87 is no worse as far as quality goes with gas. It burns faster which gives less resistance to pinging(detonation)... I run 87 with no issues. Seems to be hit and miss on these turds I guess

The Tsb refers to Evap selenoid. It's not the engine you're hearing. It's and emission control device that capture gas fumes when you shut off the engine and then returns them to the engine to burn when you restart.
