differential concern and worry

I'll tell you an old rule from the impala forum - read about it three times on the forum and it will happen to you! I ran out and dumped my differential fluid and it was gritty as all get out. the magnet had a lot of stuff stuck to it. I refilled with Mobil 1. As soon as I can find a bigger aluminum differential cover, I'm gonna get it so I can maybe get another quart of lube in back there. Juma

I've been looking for a larger cover myself... Here is a link that may have one that fits if the bolt pattern matches typical Dana 44's...http://www.mag-hytec.com/products.htm. I plan to change the differential oil ASAP just to be sure (I am not having problems) with M-1 or Neo GL-5 differential fluids.

I read in some stuff that was put up on the forum that our rear end is a dana 266 or something like that. I tried matching the bolt pattern with a jeep that did have the dana 44 and it didn't match. maybe someone with the service manual will post what the rear is again. otherwise that does look like the kind of thing to get. juma

That looks like a good idea with the larger capacity and cooling fins. I just sent them an email about a diff cover for the Titan.

I read somewhere? that the Titan had a slightly modified Dana 44 with hardened gears to add to it's durability...The fact that the bolt pattern does not match brings this into question...

What are you guys using to remove the plug on the back diff? My plug has a square hole in it.

Use a 3/8" ratchet, it fits right into the hole.
