When to switch over?

I've read plenty of posts reqarding switching both the engine and differential oils to synthetic, and I believe that is the route I am going to go. However, is there a recommended time to do this, or does it matter at all?

I ask because it seems like I remember reading once that an engine will break in better with dino oil, so one should wait before switching to synthetic. Is this true, and if so, when is the best time to switch?

The first 500 miles are the most important for break-in. You could change to synthetic oil at 500 miles and still have your engine break-in.

My rule is to go 500 miles, change the oil with petroleum again and then switch to synthetic at 1500 to 3000 miles. I've seen UOAs where engines that had 10,000 miles, and running synthetic oil still showed signs of "wear-in" metals.

Snythetic is not recommended by Nissan, conventional oil is, However Nissan doesn't say not to use snythetic. As for the swap over period, I wouldn't think there's one because it is factory fill in cars like the vette,BMW Z3 and many others. Check your owners manual for proper weights and recommendations.
