Clunk on startup

I've seen the threads about people getting a drivetrain clunk when coming to a stop, but mine is about on startup.

Every once in a while(about 1 in 5 startups) my titan will make a very audible clunk noise, almost like the sound you'd get when lets say putting an automatic transmission in gear on a steep incline. This only seems to happen at startup. Definetly not a normal thing.

It is at the dealership for a gas tank problem and a few small things, and I asked them to look at this issue also, so we will see. Probably will get a "couldn't get it to do it for us" from them.

Read your owners manual (page 5-29).
Mine is doing this also
THe only time it will do this is when it is cranked & when you reach 12mph you get the clunk. It will not do it again until the engine is turned off & recranked.

It is normal I read this in another post & looked it up for myself. I was very relieved!!

My truck is at the dealership getting some other stuff done, so I'll have to read that when I get it back. Thing is though, you say 12 mph? My truck isn't even moving. I'll start it up and lets say putting something in the back, and about 10-15 seconds later CLUNK. Truck in park, only been started accelerator hasn't even been touched.

Perform a search on "clunk" or "driveline".
Problem solved with $20 helper springs installed azz backward on rear leaf springs.
Sounds hokey but it really works.

I just had mine do the same thing the other day when I cranked it up to go to work. I was loading my bags in the back and cranked it up to let it warm up and about 5 seconds after I cranked it, it made this "clunk" as if it was being put into gear. I have read about the rear supension flex clunks, but I don't think this is my problem or the problem of BayouTitan. I don't know if it's just the transmission coming up to pressure inside or what. Hope that's all it is. If anyone finds out anything about this or has any other suggestions, please post them. Later.

Dealership couldn't replicate it, but they SUCK. I have to call in and complain to nissan here soon, just had some wisdom teeth cut out so my speech skills aren't the greatest.

Anyways next weekend I think I'm gonna run by a different dealership and see if they can just check it out real quick.

This other fugging charged me 2.20 a gallon b/c they had to replace the gas tank and fuel pump, at under 3000 miles. Gas was 1.93... so they charged ME, not nissan a mark up for their porters. Among some other things....

You know I'll have to check that next time it does it. Sometimes I leave it on when I shut the truck off. Although it doesn't sound like the fan coming on, I'll watch for that next time.
