Okay guys, I was just checking out 4 wheel parts and they have a few kits for the Dana 44. Does anybody know what is needed or what will fit our rearend to make it a limited slip. I want to swap out my 2.94 gears when I get bigger tires and figure I could kill two birds by getting a whole new setup.
Any info would be appreciated. If you want to check it out, here is the link.
If I had the money, and it fit, I would go with the Detroit Electrac. This is basically what the Nissan E-locker is, but it has a limited slip when the axles are not locked. Electric is better than pneumatic (ARB) in my opinion, no pump necissary, no lines to leak, etc.
Sorry BP, I haven't done enough research to tell you what will or won't work. It's been said that it uses a standard D44 carrier, but then someone said it didn't, then someone said it did, etc. Probably your best bet is to take it to a good driveline shop that does alot of 4x4 work and see what they think.
I believe the big tow has the ABLS, which doesn't lock the rear differential but uses independent braking to control wheel slip. Only the off road package offers a locking diff, and only very recently.
