I have a king cab 4x4 with off road and big tow packages and VDC. My problem is there isn't a switch for the VDC. Can one be installed? Been stuck twice. I work in construction sites and go off road on a daily basis. Not hard core 4 wheelin since this truck is my bread and butter. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Do you have the e-locker differential? Trucks with the e-locker don't have VDC, even if they have Big Tow. I thought that all other trucks with the Big Tow package included VDC, and would have a switch to turn it off. Do you have the E-locker?

The VDC on/off switch if you have that function is in the center panel of your dash. Like Ima said above, if you have the locker, you don't have VDC hence nothing to turn off.
No I do not have the e-locker. As far as VDC it states on my window sticker that I have it. I know for a fact that I have traction control as it engages quite often. I know that the switch would be located next to the tow mode switch but there isn't anything there. The truck I test drove had that switch. Dealer had to locate my silver truck, that is why I didn't test drive it. I asked the dealer why I had no switch, but in typical fashion all I got was "um uh..." I guess you don't need to know anything about the product you sell anymore.
It looks like you should have the VDC. It might be wired for it and they just forgot the switch. I had the central dash cover off and I noticed that their is an extra, unused connector on mine, like it has the harness for the E-Locker even though I don't have an E-Locker. (I do have VDC w/switch). And BTW, the VDC is not going to keep you from getting stuck. The ABLS feature is what is supposed to help keep you from getting stuck. The switch for VDC is actually for turning off VDC when you are off-road.

Not, Yours wouldn't be the first Titan to have missing or uninstalled parts. Several other documented cases like that, but no missing VDC switches that I've heard of. Sounds like "check with the dealer" again.

Not shawn...whats the build date on your truck? If it is after 7 APR then the 'sticker' could be a misprint as thats when the switchover occured...just a thought as well.
Yes I know VDC isn't supposed to keep me from getting stuck, I just want to be able to turn off the traction control because it is extremely annoying having the motor cut out all the time, especially off road. Just when you get going it's like someone throws out the big anchor. As far as build date the sticker on the door jamb says 12/03. So I guess I got an early one. Looks like I'll have to take the dash apart and have a look. Thanks for the replies everyone!
No, you dont need to take the dash apart. Simply drop the truck into 4 low and see if a light comes on and says VDC off. If it does then you are suppossed to have a switch to turn it off. If it does not, then you may not have VDC. BTW, when I turn my VDC off the ABLS does not really cut the power, just lightly brake the spinning wheel. If your truck is really cutting power then you probably do have VDC, but if you do and the dash light is not coming on in 4 low then I guess you have yourself a perdicament.

Just put truck in 4 lo and VDC off light does come on. I think it's safe to say I do have VDC. Now I just need to see if my truck is wired for a switch. Now how does the center dash come apart? I took out the cupholder and removed 4 screws but it still seems in there pretty solid. Where are all the screws/ clips hidden? Maybe if my new radio ever comes in(it's only been 3months) I'll let the dealer service dept. deal with it.
Well I think this is a pretty big deal. I mean you are definitely suppossed to have a VDC off switch and even if it is not wired Nissan better wire it for you. I would take it in to the dealer. I would request the dealer get Nissan to give you a loaner to drive until your switch gets here. It is amazing how fast a manufacturer can cough up parts if it is costing them daily to not get it. Even if you dont care about a car to drive, tell them you do not feel safe driving without the ability to turn it off and I bet they will cough one up.
