Transmission Being Replaced

Well after 3500 miles on the truck the transmission went out. Dropped it off this morning and just received a phone call stating the transmission will be replaced with a new one and the old one being shipped to Nissan for investigation.

Haven't heard of a tranny going out yet. Usually when trannies go out this early, it's just a defect.

Transmission

Nothing that I have noticed led up to this. My wife was had been driving with the A/C on for about 25 minutes. When she was making a turn doing about 5 MPH the RPM just shot up and the truck wouldn't move. A couple of seconds later it kick in. She got where she was going turn the truck off for about 20 minutes. Started it up, put it in reverse, it would move. Luckily she was on a slope so after waiting for it to finally roll out the drive way she put it in drive, drove for about 1 minute and it went out again. She managed to get it off the street into a parking lot and called me. When I picked it up (she never turned it off, just put it in park with the A/C on) I turned it off, raised the hood gave it the stare down, shut it and drove about 30 miles with no problems. The only thing that stayed on was the "service engine soon" light. BREAK...............
As for codes I didn't ask about that, I will. The dealership gave me a loaner to use. I will talk to them today and ask about the codes.

Angry 6000k Armada Transmission replaced too!!!

****VENT ON*****I was on vacation and my husband was driving about 40mph and all of the sudden we backfired and the car would not go into 4th gear. The service engine light came on and the AT light flashed once.

We took it to the nearest dealer and they said they had over 200 pages of tests to run but assured us it could be fixed by 10 am the next morning (time of our checkout)and by the way they were out of loaners and rentals. About 5 hours later they called and said the whole transmission needs to be replaced and they could get us a rental car from a dealer out of town. They picked up my husband and 3 hours later he drives up in a Ford Taurus .

We drove back cramped leaving half of our luggage in the back of the Armada. The transmission is supposed to come in Thursday(6 days from the time we took it in) and they said 2 days to replace it. Initally they told us we would have to drive back and pick it up when done. I told them it was not happening and the service manager said he would work it out.

I came home and searched the net looking for potential transmission problems and this is the only one I have found yet. We are hoping for the best but expecting the worst. I just had such high hopes for this truck. I drove an infinity j30 for 11 years and NEVER EVER had to take it to the shop. I too have the sunroof rattles, jumpy window and instrument panel squeak but to me they were minor and expected blemishes in a truck I loved.

Anyway sorry***VENT OFF*** Please keep me updated on your transmission fix and I will do the same.

well what happend to me was.........i was driving along approx 45 and then the truck downgeared to i think 2nd, rpms when to about 3k, service engine light came on. i pulled over checked everything i could and nothing. the rest of the day it was fine except for the light, then it would NOT shift from 2nd to 3rd gear then the at check flashed 3 times. i had autozone run the code, i think it was a p107 or something, not positive i have it written down somewhere, (transmission malfunction something). so i call the dealership, have em send out a tow truck then the next day i got the call saying they were going ot replace the whole tranny. the dealership was fairly cool about the whole thing and provided a rental car for the whole time that it was in the shop, which was about 12 days or so. somebody else on this forum had the same kind of problem and was fixed by a tranny flush, the cause was 'debris on the pressure switch' i believe. so i call the dealership and talk to one of the main guys, of course he made it sound like hes never heard of such a problem before but then i mention that i did hear on the internet that others have had this problem, all of the sudden hes like yeah this has happened before. so i ask him what was the most likely culprut of the situation and he said that it was 'metal shavings from the tranny casing and that it blew out one of the 6 selinoids in the tranny and when this happens there is no fix. so then of course he made it sound like why my truck took so long to get fixed was that i was getting one of the newer batches of trannys that supposedly had this problem fixed and was intended for a brand new truck on the assembly line.

with all of this being said, i MAY have gotten some details about what the dealership told me a little mixed up, so if something doesnt sound totally right it might not be, im not an expert on this.

the truck had the tranny replace @2900 miles, and it now has about 5,200 and running smooth. btw kc 2wd no big tow no off road.

Dee mac, Red Brawn Se CC, and Miss my truck when were your trucks built? mine was 12/03. just trying to find a pattern.

This makes me glad I had the dealer change the ATF already. Hopefully any debris is now gone.

My truck was built 12/22/03. I am writing the manufacturer directly to cover my butt. We also have called them and they say they will help in any way they can. Said they would call the service center and get back to us today.
