Drain plug washer

Sorry if this question sounds Titan 101, but I haven't changed my oil yet. Only 1400 miles. Which way does this drain plug washer go on? Smaller diameter towards engine, or away? Thanks.

Re: Drain plug washer

Anyone out there? I'm talking about the copper colored crush washer that goes on the oil drain plug.
