Question Cleaning MAF Sensors

I have read several comments here hinting that MAF sensors can be cleaned. How? Would removing it and diping it in alcohol be ok?

electrical contact cleaner is best. You can pick it up at radio shack, frys electronics, or the like.

I've always used throttle body cleaner with no adverse affect. Can be found at your local auto parts store.

I believe this is stemming from the high flow air filters and the oil to lubricate them. It seems to be effecting the MAF sensor.

If a MAF sensor can be cleaned with no ill effects why is it such a big deal when they get oil on them from the K&N type filters? If you did install the K&N CAI and got a little carried away with the oil, couldnt you just clean the MAF and solve the problem?

Thanks,

usually you can clean it... but it can be damaged and no amount of cleaning will fix a damaged maf.
