What's the matter? You can ridicule Ken for asking a question,
but can't take it yourself?

Ignorance of things mechanical is not a sign of low intelligence.
When you make fun of a newbie looking for help, you discourage
others from seeking information.

BTW, nice comeback. I think I'll go cry!

Hey guys --- since initally asking the question, I've followed the responses, from the serious to the ridiculous, and have not been offended. Remember, free advice is worth exactly what you pay for it! Anyway, thanks for all the responses on how to remove the filler and drain plug from the differential.

Hey- Ken
There is a specific tool for for removing the plugs. Go to NAPA and ask for a bung tool. It will be a multi size tool for different plug sizes. If they have one I'm sure it'll be expensive. I use a peice of 3/8" square bar stock and a 12mm wrench to turn it. The bar stock fits tighter than a ratchet extension and won't mar up the plug.

Ok - some say I should be hurt or offended. So here goes -- you guys have really p'd me off ! Now I don't know what to do about checking and refilling my own differentials. I'm sure I could have done it with the proper guidance and suggestion of the proper tool, but noooooo, you have to make me your whipping boy. There ..... now does everyone feel better?

Really, though --- thanks for the real advice, and it was fun with all the jabs too.

See ya,
Ken
