Can someone please tell me what fluid to use in my tranny? I know it's covered somewhere but the search isn't working on my phone. Also not able to get the truck to a dealership because Sundays are my only day off. Will that hurt the warranty?, does anyone know. Like if I take it to lubex
Also if there's a specific filter that is better then another.
Thanks
Don't do a flush, it's not recommended by Nissan. Do a drain and fill, pull the plug, let it drain, and replace what came out. Usually 4-5 quarts, of Nissan Matic-S.
Buy 12 qts of Amsoil, Royal Purple, or Mobil 1. Take it to your shop and have them use their fluid exchange machine.
I have 185k on my transmission and am running Amsoil ATF. That fluid is good for a long time and much better than the Nissan fluid, which is pretty much the same as Castrol Import ATF.
Don't be scared to exchange (not flush) all the fluid. Your truck will thank you for it.

I hate when I lock the glove box and can't find the key to get the owner's manual.
I hate when I forget to the post I'm so helpfully commenting lol
Didn't know it had the equivalent to matic S in the manual? Should show me where, I stated I'm unable to get to a dealership. So I'm in need of knowing the equivalent. Thanks for being so helpful 😬
Anyways I believe someone answered so thanks people👍
I've been running valvoline max life dex/merc atf. It's matic-j and matic-s compatible. I think it's about $25 a gallon. I drain the pan and refill through the dipstick tube, then disconnect the return line from the transmission cooler back to the transmission. I get someone to turn the truck on and off for me while I drain a couple of quarts and refill the same amount.

Why not just run the car until it stops pumping fluid out the cooler line, then start the refill process. This is the recommended method for other cars I've worked on.
Just take it to the dealer pay the $200 to let them do a complete exchange and go on your marry way. Its the easiest way to get all of the fluid replaced & then you won't have to worry about it for another 30k miles.
Just get it done when you have a chance to.

OP stated that Sunday is his only day off, and can't get it to a Dealer.
