tranny slipping hard, non driveable every gear...

any chances I could get belts changed or anything at a tranny shop?

I figure it's toast been shifting hard for a long time and getting worse they yesterday coming home uphill it started slipping hard, to the point on flat ground it slips with barely any throttle and downhill will slip with just a little push on the throttle as well, and I'm talking not enough throttle to make it downshift and it slips

think this may be the end for me. if I get it fixed, I'm done, if I part it out, I'm done. no more nissans for me they look sweet and have a lot of power but I'm so over this fixing things crap. I got 76,000 miles on it and I've put so much money into fixing crap it's not even funny. just posting to see what are the chances of tranny being easy fix LOL, thanks for any help!

Did you check your rubber tranny hose under your radiator my t did the same thing when my hose blew

Didn't you dump some transmission fluid recently? Sounds like you you lost fluid, probably a transmission line hose up around the radiator. 76,000 miles and that transmission is just now getting broke in.

fluid was down somehow, but it wasn't anywhere on the ground or in the transfer case.

I added a quart today to see what would happen and it seemed to slip less but the tranny still has hesitations and rough shifts and seemed like it still slips a little. I filled it a month or so ago but had it where it needed to be after loosing some fluid on a couple radiator changes. with the truck running I had it up over the top of the line bar.

It WAS a 90 mile trip home sunday. I wasn't about to be stuck in the middle of no where with my wife and kids at night, so I limped it home the whole way. whatever damage sustained is done and I still don't know where the matic S went... I took it uphill today to the store just now 1/4 mile away and it did ok. still shifting hellacious but besides damage I think the computer memorized shifting pattern from the last 100 miles. funny, after adding fluid last time it was all good and it was a month or so since then.

I checked the transfer case and it was normal level so the fluid didn't go in there. the radiator fluid seemed ok so I don't think it's in there. I park on gravel and it too looks fine so I'm not sure where the quart or so went.. I have no idea's popping up so anyone's guess is good as any. the fluid in the transfer case didn't look too good, but the fluid in the tranny *what little was there* seemed pretty ok, still pinkish.

did you check your coolant to see if any tranny fluid was in there? Maybe you had the tranny cooler leak.

was very liquidy when I opened it, was still hot so it was blasting all over.

will look at it good tomorrow b4 work.

I took it to work today, 1st time driving since my 1/4 mile test drive. it floats hard even going into 2nd under light throttle, moderate throttle it dumps into 2nd, 3rd hunts alot regardless I think. 4th lugs seemed to lock a little. not sure on OD. will check level again tomorrow and see if coolant is funky. I'll be pissed if that's what's going on no matter what my tranny is jacked it does lock sometimes so my buddy said it sounded like some of the electronic deals, he said if the tranny was toast toast, it wouldn't lock up at all...?

REBUILT R-55 TRANSMISSION FOR NISSAN OR INFINITI

not sure if $2500 is a good deal or not?

yeah, matic J, now it's matic S I've put at least 5-6 quarts in it. I changed my radiator and it leaked pretty good this past time so I got a bunch and put it in. but I have actually taken it to nissan and had them change it once like a year or 3 ago...

So I can find one of those vehicles in the junk yard and use the tranny from them? I'd love a standard tranny but I don't know if there are any and what all would be involved lol
