You're reading my mind Mikey. I just don't wanna complicate matters anymore. I have the E-Locker and think it MAY have had something to do with it.
BTW how did you know it was the spider gears? My dealer hasn't given me any info and is just shipping the entire unit back to Nissan and replacing the rear with a new one. They claim they didn't even take the cover off.

Hi CHEIF....too bad they hid the TRUTH=COMEDY....with your rear-diffie.......but glad you are back in your Titan again.
So far the dealer has not fixed my Titans oil leaks yet...parts are on order......SM says the new trannies rear oil seal has blown out......It went 1,000 miles then I noticed the leak (s). Not sure if it is just the rear seal the underside of my Titan is so FREAKIN oily from front to back!!!
When I get a few...I'm planning on making a new poll......for all drive-train failures from front to back!!!!!!
Peace-Tom Bass Ale

No One is happier than me now that I have the truck back .
I put about 100 miles on, real easy. Last night I pushed it ever so slightly on a short trip. When I parked, it smelled like new burning paint. Maybe it's normal. I'll have to pay attention to it and give it a visual.
The cover is stamped 75-140 so maybe I can ASSUME that's what they put in there
I smoked my rear end towing a 26' weekend warrior with 2 quads and 2 bikes inside. The rear end heated up and started to smell like propane. I have found this to happen in other trucks because the factory puts a posi additive in with the gear oil. When the additive heats up it burns and smells sort of like propane. However my problems stem further than this. There is a dust seal in the third member that came loose from the heat. It would start spinning and sounded like I was dragging a dying animal behind my car. After a small battle with nissan service dept. they decided to replace the entire rear end in the truck..... When the replacement rear end came in there had been a mistake in the freight trucks deliveries and they actually gave my rearend to a dealership in colorado and visa versa. This made matters worse as I was already out my truck for over a week.
The new rearend is great. I beleive it is a 2005. It has the aluminum diff cover and i have since towed the same trailer with an equal amount of weight with suprisingly better performance. AND NO BURNING SMELL OR SQUEALING LIKE A DYING ANIMAL!!!!
well fellas third rear just blew. i was making a right and accelerating when once again it felt like i was hit by a bus. im prettty sure its the spiders again. maybe the e-locker spiders are just too tight. coincidence two outta three times it was a right turn? is it just the e-locker rears?
