Roaring Sound from the Rear Differential

I have a late 04 Armada 2wd I bought in August. I only do infrequent (a hundred miles a month or so) light duty towing. It's only a couple of 4 wheelers, maybe 1,500 pounds trailer and all. After seeing the info on this site back in October I dropped the diff fluid at 5,500 and it was scorched. The magnetic drain plug had a wad of shavings on it a big as a large grape. I put 75W-90 Mobil 1 full synthetic back in it. At 8,500 I dropped the fluid again. This time it looked good and there were little or no shavings. I put 75W-140 full synthetic back in that time. I have about 11,000 on it now.

Before I changed it the first time it made a noticeably loud noise while towing one time. It was a load growling sound. Since then there has been an intermittent vibration and rumble coming from the rear. It only occurs when decelerating between 80 and 70, and doesn't do it all the time. I got in the back while my wife drove and I could feel the vibration under the third row, so it sure seems like it's the diff. My wife says that most folks would think it is the tires or exhaust. It kind of has a roaring sound like a bad tire or something. But I rotated the tires and that didn't change a thing. I have ruled out the exhaust too by putting it in neutral. This doesn't change it one bit either.

I am planning to have my dealer take a look at it soon. I know the service manager there and he has already replaced 3 or 4 Titan diffs, including his. He replaced his just because of the burnt fluid and clump of filings on the plug. In fact, I'm the one who told him about it originally after learning about it here. They got their first seized differential in only a few weeks after I told him about it. I'm thinking I may have a deep wear pattern in the ring and pinion causing this vibration. Has anyone else experience this growling and vibration?

My guess would be a bearing rather than worn gears, but I don't think it matters as the dealers seem to be just replacing the entire rear axle.
